    Awesome model Airbus A380 video

Four turbines make a great noise. This is a BIG model that sounds and goes like the real thing. Unbelievable

Even better still - how about a B52 model with 8 Wren model turbines? Listening to this thing spool-up is incredible and it's well-worth downloading the video even though it's 29Mb:

It's such a shame. There are literally hundreds if not thousands of hours (without even mentioning the money) that go into these aircraft. Those turbines alone are around the US$5,000 each, so by 8 that's US$40,000 worth of engines alone gone. Damn radio glitches

It is such a shame but the clearly the weather conditions were such that the model was flying outside its performance envelope. When going down wind I suspect its indicated airspeed fell below stall and the plane stalled in - certainly dropped one wing and entered the early stages of a spin before hitting the ground.

Unfortunately pilots of real planes have the same problems when turning and going down wind in high wind blustery conditions.

Bottom line is the plane should not have been flying that day. - like a real pilot, the guy flying it probably did'nt want to disappoint the crowd and took off anyway.

Apparently the R/C model suffered from the same characteristics of the real B52

A note regarding this awful video, provided by a former B-52 pilot: "The B-52 in a steep turn at low airspeed loses roll control, resulting in a natural over-banking tendency. The small rudder authority is unable keep the nose from dropping, nor can it pick up the lower wing. B-52s do not have conventional ailerons, but spoilers on the upper wing surface similar to the MU-2.

That was horrible to watch. Maybe there's something true in what was said. I remember that even the model flies (in true scale form) with a biased nose-down attitude. No ailerons? Jeez - that'd be difficult to control the rolling moment with. Spoilers break lift, so controlling roll with those would be like slowing your top fuel dragster with your sand shoe dragging on the road.

    Any ideas or solutions, PLEASE.

Drivesafe - what applications are you using to play .wmv files on your Mac?
