It is such a shame but the clearly the weather conditions were such that the model was flying outside its performance envelope. When going down wind I suspect its indicated airspeed fell below stall and the plane stalled in - certainly dropped one wing and entered the early stages of a spin before hitting the ground.
Unfortunately pilots of real planes have the same problems when turning and going down wind in high wind blustery conditions.
Bottom line is the plane should not have been flying that day. - like a real pilot, the guy flying it probably did'nt want to disappoint the crowd and took off anyway.
