    Assistance with photos

OK - I've read the sticky about hosting and posting photos. With this new style of forum, I've come up on a problem. Whilst composing the post, the image of the picture appears OK within the post, but as soon as I hit preview, the photo dissappears and displays it's URL address. Upon submit, it stays with it's URL, just as if I had only posted a website address. I've tried a few things, and so far I've only managed to be successfull with making a thumbnail of an attached photo (hosted by AULRO server) appear. The photo is only 81k, well within the bounds of both AULRO and hosting website parameters.

    What have I missed?

That depends where you are hosting the photos - to post a photo you need to have its url enclosed in an IMG tag, some hosting sites provide code that already has the tag in it, some forums want the tag to be 'img' instead of 'IMG'. A bit of trial and error should soon find the right code to use.
If you only have the url of the image then use the "Insert Image" button (yellow box with picture of a mountain on it) when writing your post and paste the url in the dialog box that comes up.

    Hope that helps.

    Almost got it..

Thanks for the reply DD - but I've tried those things... as I said, on first typing out the post the image pops up OK (using the insert image function), but when it's time to submit the post, the image dissappears and the URL is displayed. I've tried the using the old img (in various forms) command ( which worked well on the old forum). But it's still no go.

You need to post exactly what you type in the message window when you try to post an image. To do this you may need to enclose the text in 'PHP' tags (the php button) so everyone can see what was typed.
E.g. These tags make your text bold:
    PHP Code:
    [B]bold text[/B

I was having that problem especially with pics from the gallery, don't know what has changed (or if I changed anything) but it seems to have resolved itself.
I was finding the pic would come up Ok in preview but then would just drop back to the plain URL, enclosing it in img tags again didn't fix it.

Looks to be a problem with the URL, as it doesn't end in .jpg, or have a .jpg or gif in it anywhere, so the forum software thinks it's just a link. I have the same problem when I try and post it. 4bee is having a similar problem at the moment, i'm trying to catch incisor to see if he knows if it can be fixed.

Any IMG tags are being ignored or converted to URL tags by the system...
    Bug report?

Langy - When posting photos from your pix8net album click on the 'Get Code' link beside the photo and a new window will open with HTML code and UBB code. Copy the UBB code and paste that straight into your post.

    That way instead of this:
    http://www.pix8.net/pro/pic.php?u=24557MuAb8&i=912595

    you get this:

Thankyou gentlemen.. it is indeed the new type of forum that wants UBB code for hosted pics.
