Blood sweat at Titanum - I am back baby Melbourne marathon

MM 2021.jpg Mr slow but my First 42.2 post spilling a lot of blood and breaking a LOT of bones is done and dusted.
I have said it many times thanks to RHM, Doctors, Surgeons, Nurse, Orderlies, Cooks and cleaner.

Today I am claiming a little about me! Sitting down and accepting I am broken was never acceptable. I pushed for three subsequent surgeries, Broke my physio who suggested I could run 200 metres 8 weeks ago. A few tears when a few people asked me about my change from Navy Diver to "RHM Major Trauma".

A load of pride overcame swollen painful toes and what the hell am I doing moments to get me back into the MCG finish line. My 19th marathon yet if feels a lot like my very first. My slowest ever. Port Fairy next in Feb 2022. A shoe change should make it at least one hour quicker oddly which was exactly like my first ever marathon run. I will cut myself loose from all the shackles imposed on me next time

There is a story in Fridays herald Sun on James.
    Dave.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

41km in 1.2 to go.jpeg Still smiling at 41km mark. 1.2 to get home to the G from here The next few showed a incredibly pleased and happy me in one of those places best left unseen.

Off for new shoes now as a reward. The ones I have been wearing for 8 years. Have clearly gotten a little smaller. Replaced every year or so with exactly the same shoe. This current pair had my very swollen toes crushed

Walking very well, Light run tomorrow- Its a sickness

    So, how did it go?

You do realize you could have been inside, air con on, on the couch, with a good book & music blaring like I was?

Sure did. A few boys and girls on Balconies along St Kilda Beach still with cocktails in hand did give us a little amusement Have to mention one seemed to have a robotic lift of a glass to his mouth. Suspect if the wind blew he would have toppled over

    Covid DAMM You

I got my new running shoes this arvo. The Running Shop Clifton Hill. 8 years ago my first marathon shoes had blisters and me staggering to the pool being passed by a few 80 plus gents asking if I was ok.

Feet re-shod in shoes at the The Running Shop Clifton Hill to fit and deal with slight over pronation. I cut 30 minutes off my first time one month later in Portland. Worn the same shoes for years. Mucked up just once and put a lardy dah new shoe on for a few months before it bit me and physio saw me in those and mentioned the magic word- Over Pronation. Put my old shoes on an no issues Every year I brought exactly the same shoes. I put 10000km on them so not tossing out good rubber promise

Covid Lock down bit here when I was starting to walk the first time ( Before a few more corrective operations) I brought two pairs of shoes online from the big brand name retail.

Size 9 for ever. UK size 9 - New shoes suggest they are yet they are not? Either way I am now in a size 10.5 US which are clearly bigger. Online stuff up for me Blaming Covid. Good news is plan for sub four yesterday wearing shoes 1.5 sizes to small gives me an excuse to laugh about. Very much looking forward to the next run. A few days off except for the brief trot in my new shoes.
Reseting my Personal Best to yesterdays run - Easy to smash that now
Funnily the guy selling them to me did a PB in the 1/2 marathon yesterday and two other guys in the shop had run as well

PS Thanks for the Merge- My Bi polar condition was confusing for me

    Recovery run

Ok its a twist in the Recovery Party of our youth

6 medium pace KM run in my new shoes just Done. Bliss for me yet shoes falling on the ground sounded a bit like a horse and notices a static electricity build up in/from the new one

Rather than post in Trivia I will off Topic myself( also dislike myself over posting )

About to call Sgt Justice at my Local Police station. A very cool Doctor I know who worked in the Democratic Republic of Congo for a bit, Is "ubber" cool on roller blades and sadly a lot to far away has a Child called 'Justice'. My 303 comes from Sgt Sheriff (RIP Jeff) ( Being donated to Lithgow firearms museum as soon as I get time to drive there)

I am so off topic with trivia I may forget why I want to chat with Sgt Justice as I am sure to share above and my Sunday run with him as well as the cool police drug testing all day drivers near here.

I just had the same chat with the manager of the pool re Privacy Laws. Very happy pool understood the issue and might change. Trying for Justice is rather cool
