I am talking about major eruptions like the latest one Not the odd tremor or dust fart that is common with these ring of fire volcanoes

If you saw Mrs 8 erupt, you'd prefer a volcano.
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.

Have a look at the 2009 and 2014-15 eruptions. 2009 in particular was not a dust fart.

Compare those eruptions to the latest one and you will see that they Are prety much a "Dust Fart" in comparison

In Australia you are only protected from big waves that can follow an eruption if behind the barrier reef. Those who live on the coast further south on the east coast have a potential problem

Same could probably be said about the rumblings leading up to Krakatoa. Or Mt Saint Helens. Even seasoned vulcanologists admit that the things are pretty much unpredictable.

I'm not saying this one will erupt again soon, but I think a thousand years is a bit of a stretch for something that erupted in the last week. I also think I may have a chance (?) to see Krakatoa go boom in what I have left of my life. Not sure I want to. It would be devastating. But this planet doesn't give a **** about what any of us think.

Indeed. If Hunga Tonga was heard as far away as Alaska as reported, I reckon our friends in northern WA will hear that one! If it's anything like 1883 it'll play havoc with their solar as well.

So Ian,.....I am trying to be delicate and sensitive here,......the expression ‘Sunday too far away” may have its origins in Carrvilla ?

No, it typically has short eruptive periods spanning a few years, then goes to sleep for the thousand, so the eruptive period will likely continue for a while more.
