    Price Difference

Looking for the bits so I can engage the CDL in the Disco and found the complete kit on Discovery Automotive's website, rang them and was quoted $870.00. Went to Ashcroft Transmission's website in England and the same kit is $480.00 and there is no customs duty as it is less than $1000.00, even if the freight is say another $50.00 through the post, that is still a substantial saving. There is also a complete guide for the installation.

That just shows it pays to shop around, never take the first price you are quoted, always shop around. Matt

    Hi Maggsie
I made my own from socket set parts, basically 2 extensions and 2 uni-joints,works fine.
If you do a search on here there are pics of what I did.You should be able to do it for less than $100.
Is yours an auto??? if so the Disco1/Rangie CDL should bolt on,it wont on a manual without a lot of engineering,as I tried.I have a Rangie CDL lever I bought for $50 that isnt much use to me.

I was going to say cant you use a D1 linkage, but you answered that for me LA. I wasnt aware it could only be done on the auto though, you learn something everyday. Matt

    Hi Ace
I havent seen the auto shifter set-up for the D2,but did read on a UK site the D1 acuator can bolt,or be modified to bolt onto the shifter mechanism for the auto.In the D2 manual the plate on the gearshift that the CDL lever bolts to has been deleted hence you cant use it without making your own.
