We have 600 litre slide in tanks we use in the utes - but that’s not my job, I’m beyond getting my hands dirty - I organise others to get theirs dirty. 😁😇

Mine will have an ARB canopy on the back like I have now on the Hilux as well. 😊

    School me on commercial vehicles.

Saw that Creative Conversions have the dual cab ute prototype of the LC300 complete on LinkedIn today. Showed my Boss - he told me to **** off (in the nicest possible way) School me on commercial vehicles.. He has a very nice 200 with all the fruit that’s only got 30,000KM on it so I’m guessing I’m not allowed to have anything nicer than that. School me on commercial vehicles.

Here’s a few pics - there was one with the tray on it on LinkedIn - actually a really good looking unit. 700mm extended chassis, no pricing - I guess you have to wait 4 years for the vehicle now then another 12 months having it converted by them.

A couple of pics from LinkedIn. I know a lot here will poo poo this but I’d have one if dollars were no object. Prefer one of these to a Ram or F Truck

    Hi Gav,
The only new Ranger with rear coils will be the Raptor.
The engine options in the Sport are the 4cyl, the same 2.0L Bi-turbo that first came out in the current (old?) Ranger Raptor. 150odd kW and 500Nm.
The V6 is Ford's version of the 3.0 Lion, taken from the F truck. 190kW (I think) and 600Nm.

Jeez Gav, getting a bit fussy in your old age

If my boss offered me a free car and it was a low lux I would jump at it.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

Had a drive of a V6 Diesel Ranger yesterday.

    Was very impressed.

    Fairly expensive though

The V6 diesels have permanent four wheel drive plus transfer case plus locking rear diff.

Ducking for cover I believe it went a well as a 3.0 litre diesel D4

    School me on commercial vehicles.

The commercial ruling for dual cabs can be problematic to navigate, but most of the new Ford Ranger models should qualify as being commercial vehicles.

    https://www.ato.gov.au/law/view/docu...99991231235958

The new Ford Ranger is sounding very good - especially the XLT/Sport/Wildtack version with leaf sprung rear, 3,500kg tow capacity and the 3.0TDV6.

The XLT dual cab with the 3.0TDV6 has a claimed payload of 1,151kg (when supplied as cab chassis only with no tray when it comes available) and so would be deemed a commercial vehicle even with a flat tray fitted, plus falls under or just on the LCT threshold.

Other models, including the Wildtrack, should still meet the commercial calculations even though the payload is just under 1T as the majority of the load capacity is not for driver/passengers (5x68kg=340kg).

I would be visiting Ford and having a chat. A 4x4 Ute designed here in Melbourne with ARB supporting on the accessory side sounds good to me. Probably will be the last car to be designed in Australia.

Dealer told me on Friday that Ranger is exempt Luxury Car Tax.

Conversely the LCT applies to the Everest.

Priced up car and a few ARB/Ford supplied accessories and no LCT applied in quote.

The other reason that is good, is when claiming depreciation in a car worth more than LCT threshold you can only claim depreciation to that threshold whereas in a LCT exempt car you can then claim depreciation to the value of the car.

I am referring to people that get paid car allowance rather than company / business type scenarios

For example I travel all over Melbourne & to some regional areas and get a car allowance rather the company car (unfortunately)
