chinese ladies and their beauty fixation...

anyone watch 4 corners last night?

chinese women are a bit fixated about their looks.

at least they dont do botox lips like some seppo women.

btw , it's not only the women , the men are getting in the act too.

    Hi,
They are a strange lot when it comes to image.
In Malaysia (1960s), the Chinese boys mostly rode Honda 100cc sports with the mirrors crossed over so they could admire themselves as they zoomed around the town. All sorts of extra lighting (think Indian trucks) including red globes lighting the inside of the exhaust pipe.
One just had to be seen to be so fashionable for street cred.

I watched it and was horrified.

The program did end on a slightly optimistic note about the introduction of some regulation of the industry. It also mentioned the fact that that leg operation is now banned. However, I wonder if that will stop it.

When we lived in Thailand it was common for Thai women to have surgery to have bags put under their eyes to look more Western.
They were also rubbing zinc cream on their skin to look white, which was a problem as they could suffer zinc poisoning.
The brown-skinned Asian girls wanted to look white like Westerners, while the white-skinned Western girls wanted to tan and look brown.
    It's a funny world.

Yeah, we lived in singapore it was the same deal. A number of local women I worked with spent a fortune on changing the shape of their eyes to look more western and skin whitening products and procedures were a big seller. Was sort of an unofficial competition in the office.

At the beach (Penang) you would see the RAAF wives/daughters splayed out, almost sizzling in the sun and the local ladies under a tree, wrapped in a towel and wearing a huge hat.

It seems they also like their ears to stick out like "elf" ears, whereas here people get their ears pinned back. I knew a kid who was nicknamed "Wingnut", and when he went for surgery I thought they'd better not do one ear at a time otherwise he will spin like a top in the wind.
