    Another interesting day!

Had a visitor today. A friend came out from town to get firewood and to help me cut some. And to give his 17yo 'L'plater some hours. I told him the road should be OK provided you keep in the middle and don't go into any of the tracks where someone else has sunk. He has a 4wd Isuzu dual cab with electric winch, and is an experienced bush driver.

We got a good lot of wood for both of us. I then put an extra twenty pound in his back tyres, as they were looking a bit down.

About ten minutes after they left, I got a call. "We're bogged, about 50m from your gate".

I drove down to assess the situation, after finding the tractor battery flat. (too flat to start, anyway) The learner had not kept in the middle, and both right wheels were down to the hub in stuff that looks like melted ice cream.

He had the winch hooked up to a well placed tree, but the winch was running out of pull. I said "you need a a snatch block". "haven't got one". But then he found he did. Soon got it hooked up, and after about another fifteen minutes it was out and cleaning up.

There was no way I could get past him to snatch from the front, and going back was not a good idea. So I can't say a Landrover saved him. But my advice night have.

They did phone to say they got home OK.

I have recovered at least half a dozen vehicles from the 'Road' in the red circle.

When I pose the question as to why on earth the drivers have taken this route, the answer is always, 'Google Maps shows it as a road' and I suppose it does.

It is, in fact, a rough track through an overgrown, old pineapple paddock! Blind Freddie could see that it's not a road!

Thankfully, the placement of a chain and 'Private Property' sign has quietened things down a bit.
