Good stuff, Richard. At least it will make you feel a bit better that something is being done. At last our boys in blue are getting of their backsides and addressing real crime. It s a tough job and like banging your head against a wall for them at times as when you get to court our bleeding heart judges feel sorry for the poor little downtroden pond scum. Having said that a lot of police are a joke and not even interested, have been through this a few times and are not even interested in investigating.
About time our laws for this sort of crap meant retribution and they actually had to pay financially as well as prison time. Bugger rehab, all that teaches them is to re-offend as nothing will be done. Lets bring in laws like in Texas (I think it was) which if they do not have the money or ability to repay the victim or offender, even if insurance has been paid, you get to go into their home and take what ever you like to equivalent value.

I love technology when it can do things like that. I presume it was DNA matching that got him.

In NSW (I think) they are debating whether the jury should have more input into sentencing. Judges are outraged, as apparently it takes a lot of skill to give someone the proper sentence!

Good to see you got a result. You might find he changes his plea at the last minute.
I had that a few times when working the bottlo. I would turn up to court as the witness and they would then plead guilty seeing as my story hadn't changed.

There was a letter in the paper a couple of weeks ago from a cop who said that in the current pay dispute they would happily take a lower pay increase if there was a guarantee that the courst would treat offenders appropriately. Must be really morale sapping when you go all out to catch a scumbag and the courts let them off with a slap on the wrist.

    Great result.

Go the revenge route after a bit of time I reckon. Scum bag deserves some real punishment.

Must admit I am very happy with the way the police have handled it but don't have any optomism for the court results. We will wait and see.
