Do you ignore the oil leaks?
Have you ignored annoying coolant leaks?
Do you get frustrated at the cup holders that don't hold cups properly, or radio that doesn't work sometimes, or that the wipers come on when they feel like it, or a manual gear change that needs to warm up to select smoothly, electrical gremlins, rattles, noises, zizzing vibrations, squeaking squeaks, water leaks, air leaks, creaky doors, jammed locks ....

If none of that stuff never bothered you .. yep! .. definitely 100% LR tragic.

My BIL was looking for a "new" car several years ago, he's always had a fascination with the unusual.

He was at our place and started talking about getting a land Rover, possibly a defender... I told him not too, it wouldn't suit what he and his wife wanted to do.


I also had a trump card in my deck, we had at the time, the nastiest 300tdi 2 door 110 ute in Australia parked outside, not one seal on it held oil, the gear stick had so much free play that even for a competent operator, every gear change was an adventure with a twist at the end...

The doors had big enough gaps between themselves and the vehicle, that Elon Musk could have lost his wallet through them.

Cue test drive.

I watched him trying to drive the thing, 3 of us crammed into the cab, missed gears, bunny hopping, lack of performance, no brakes, the turning circle of "Ever Given".

We finished the test drive which included trying to drive over a rocky outcrop.. Which it managed with aplomb, and before we even got out of the vehicle (which I was really looking forward to doing), he says:

"this is the vehicle for me".

To the OP, a Freelander 2 is a very very good vehicle, possibly the best LR have ever released, you'll love it.

Another unexpected twist!

When I bought my D2 , some talent here wrote a poem about it.

I tried a search but couldn't find it.....maybe someone remembers....it would have been 13/14yrs ago.

the d2 needed a second life , had around 350k on it.

I found my original post and the subsequent poem...if others want to see both , I'll try and put it up.
