Did you upgrade the alternator to a sealed version? If not, expect it WILL fail again very soon.
Had you had a TD5 D2(or defender), I reckon you would have seen another 5l/100 less fuel usage than the 79! [biggrin]

That always surprised me about your situation with the D2a .. why you kept the V8 rather than switch it to a TD5, considering your location and the places you traveled too and driving type you commented about.

You are on the money,there are rumours when the 70’s ‘return’,if they ever do,they will be rerated at a higher GVM,but the reason for this is safety regs,so they will be pushed up into another class and won’t have to comply,not much else.

They can’t be ordered ATM.
