Faulty Spark plug boots from China, who'd have thought?
Saw these NGK look a like on AliExpress , 2 for AU $2.62 , what could go wrong
nothing to loose ( well except $20) so thought I'd grab 6 sets . The feedback was all good & buyers seemed happy.
On arrival I thought I'd check with multimeter to see what the resistance was , oops all open circuit - every one of them .
So hit one with a hammer to crack it open, bloody hard to crack so used the grinder . As you see there's a nice 2 - 2.5mm gap the spark has to jump before getting to your spark plug . Thats going to cause all sorts of faults especially if you have HEI ignition not to mention inside the phenolic resin heating up & burning from the arcing. Picture showing internal resistor from the vendors description , a bit different to what I found.
Well the genuine NGK are $15.00 each, this is a case of you get what you pay for, but it would not have taken any extra effort to have an actual electrical connection in there.
