I know who did it- Medibank?

"The prime minister has revealed that authorities know "who is responsible" for the Medibank cyber attack and the Federal Police will reveal details later today."

AFP to reveal more details about hackers''' identity, PM says, as customers '''shocked''' by extent of leaked data - ABC News

I was not a Medibank client - Navy Health type Optus has me with new Drivers licences, New passwords and two factor authentification for everything!

I wonder why we have to wait for AFP to tell us? I wonder If the Government of the hackers is quietly being asked to shoot them (figuratively ) before it is shown to be Putins Russians

I bet if this becomes a legal case and goes to discovery there will be a 10 year trail of the IT department begging for funding for security, warning about the magnitude of the data collected and attempting to encourage a culture of awareness. I'll also bet there's 10 years of the upper management to board level saying "it'll never happen".

Hack the hackers- Bring it on

‘Hack the hackers’: New joint taskforce will hunt cybercriminals before they strike

Medibank, Optus hacks: New joint taskforce will hunt cybercriminals before they attack

Chatting yesterday with setting up a business to locate and hurt cybrecriminals. Suspect a non government group located in a place where laws did not impact could do some serious damage to dirty criminal ransomware/hackers criminals in places which allow them to do so for a cut of the money they steal.

Government beat me to it! I was looking at funding from corporate victims and public angry by identification, disruption and full exposure.

Hiring White Hat hackers is very possible already of course

"The new taskforce between the Australian Federal Police and the Australian Signals Directorate" is in my view much better except we do not to see full public exposure of course.

Example "Dreyfus would not comment on who was carrying out the hacks, but said on Saturday it was a “very organised criminal gang and that it is located in Russia”."

The "REvil group" is apparently paying Putin if not directly run by him or his cronies The my Deer Leader gent in NK is another frequently flyer.

Nice to see people saying it like it is
"“No country should stand by and not assist any other country that is asking for help – any country that harbours criminals of this kind is in fact assisting,
