Just in the planning stages of thinking of visiting the Murray-Sunset & Big & Little Deserts of Vic. Part of my trip between the Murray-Sunset & the other 2 I would like to follow as close as possible the VIC/SA border all the way down to the Little Desert. Looking on Google Maps, I can see that there is pretty much a track all the way south to the Big & Little Deserts (except for some small sections where u are blocked due to farmlands)...
Questions:
> Is there a fenceline running down the length of the border & if so, is there gates to pass through when needed?
> Are u allowed to travel along the length of the border between the Murray Sunset and the Little Desert
> Is the Little Desert worth the visit and if so, what is there to see there?
> Between the 3 (Murray-Sunset - Big & Little Deserts), which would be better to spend the time in?
More questions to come as I think of them...
thanks in advance

I wonder if the Murry River water levels might need checking ?? BOM http://www.bom.gov.au/nsw/warnings/f...rayriver.shtml
Did a cool drive though the parks and up to Ikara ranges and beyond. It was very dry at that time. Loved it!
What I would recommend:
For a bit of variety around the area, I'd suggest to use the eastern side of the Murray-Sunset NP, through Rocket Lake, Mopoke Hut and down to Lake Crosbie(Pink Lakes) area.
Very nice/interesting spots to see, walk around and camp at any of them.
Then from there, you head west towards (use main hwy or use the sand tracks) and you can travel the border track into the Wyperfield-Big Desert/Ngarkat parks.
just a suggestion.
Then again the suggestions could end up being endless when talking of variety .. Hattah-Kulkyne area south east of Mildura is also a nice place, rivers/lakes/tracks/camping abound ... so where does one stop suggesting alternatives!
I haven't been out that way very much for a while(just a couple of short day trips) ... and my longer multi day travels in the area were 20-30 years ago(border track). Much may have changed in the way of popularity(close to zero 30 years ago!).
I do know that one trip with the bro to Pink Lakes/Mopoke the camp ground at Lk Crosbie was quite busy, but no one at Mopoke.

I did the Border track many years ago, I remember that it's in theory 'one-way'.
Border Track - Dog Fence
Not sure if I still have the trip notes, it was a long time ago.
