    Hey LRJim, that tabletop trailer! Do you have any details on that one by any chance, or if its an Aussie build? It's very UK in how incredibly low it sits. I've been trying to sus out if those components are available in Aus to build them like this but our local trailer man says its pretty hard to get them.

    Simon, I think the biggest issue is getting a small enough tyre with a decent rating. What size/rating were the rear tyres on Mazda/Ford vans, with dual rear wheels, from the 80s?

    I also worry about the wheel speed and temps on Aussie roads too. In the UK theyre running 10-12" wheels with LandRover stud pattern. The tricky bit in it though is the spring mounts and the very very flat leaf springs which allow the chassis ride height to come right down and that also allows the deck height to come down also. Most tabletops run roughly 300mm spacing between the top and bottom chassis, where these just run a single length of what I think is probably 150x50 or similar RHS. Its crazy how they make it work.

    The trailer is indeed built in the UK and shipped over in pieces and assembled in Australia. I've zoomed in on the photo for you so you can see the builder (Brian james). I was expecting electric brakes because it's 3500GTM but the fella at Bendigo hire said it was dual hydraulic brakes and they got away withought electric. The tyres are indeed small and are pumped at a whopping 90psi, really rough without a load on. I found one had dropped its pressure over time which was a worry. Overall a fantastic trailer with tilt also which was a bonus.
