It wasn't really a good pen to write with, it lacked a decent grip. Bugger of a thing to change nibs on too.

All the wooden desks had inkwells, but we weren't allowed to use them as the school had done away with quills, thankfully.

I had a Parker 51 but don't recall if it was any better or worse than the others. Would get writers cramp with all of them. We had ink wells also but not in use in my day, same desks as my dad used at the same school in the early forties. Many fountain pens had ink cartridges then which proved just as messy as filling from an ink jar which I still have!
