The Big One! reverse in or reverse out! Is it Political :)

Got my tin foil hat ready promise

Watching people trying to reverse out of driveways or car parks has me in stitches often. A few very busy road with 80Kph speed limits with people trying that hair raising trick have a accident weekly at least. Ditto for my local shopping center.

Hats on now Reversing in is dangerous for Bikes, Kids, Pedestrian, nutty runners and just a PITA for everyone I think

Reversing into a car park safer, more efficient for driver and pedestrians

Reversing in is safer for all concerned. All those kids and joggers you mention can see the vehicle, and it's driver can see them. Reversing out, nobody can see a bloody thing. You can multiply that by any number you choose if the vehicle is a truck or bus.

Yep. In my little town, there is rear in parking at the IGA. Not many do it, which surprises me, as driving out forward, gives you a better view of oncoming traffic, especially since three out of four vehicles are 4WDs and hard to see past, or through, when parked in the same area.
I do have to be careful with backing the 'tilly in, as the back of the tray can block off half the foothpath, if I go back too far.

back in the ye ol days people had situational awareness. Pedestrians could see a vehicle with reverse lights on reversing out. Other drivers could see a vehicle with reverse lights on reversing and would wait.

Now days every ****in moron pedestrian is glued to their ****in phone and can't see ****. Drivers are drooling ****in morons and have no idea what reverse lights are let alone a concept of a motor vehicle reversing, whats that driver doing.

Just another article by yet another woke ******, did they get a warm fuzzy feeling for enlightening the plebs about safety (I bet they did).
    What a total bull**** article.

    I generally drive in,never had a problem.
If i have to reverse,i just do it,preference is front in though.

A few weeks ago we were working on the roof of a shopping center, and had a good view of a car parking area below.
It was amazing how some just back in without looking over their shoulder, just use the screen in the vehicle.
Something i find hard to do,but then i am probably old school.Probably just comes down to practise.
Even big vehicles like Land Cruisers,Klugas, dual cab utes, etc, they just watch the screen, and on occasions, the mirrors.

Pedestrians, and crossings are my bug bear.
Many dont even look, just step off the pavement, walk across, even pushing prams.
In my day we were taught to look left, then right, then left, then step onto the crossing.
Seems all that has gone out the window, well, there is the phone to look at,while crossing as well.

Drivers also want to drive right up behind me when trying to parallel park, so I often put on the hazard lights to warn them as I drive up to an empty bay.

always reverse into driveways/bays etc ... unless not practical.
And in some cases it's illegal.

But for the likes of me, I can't understand that no one in Melb seems to understand a simple rule(that they should have remembered when they got their license) ...

    Centre of the road parking
When parking in spaces in the centre of the road you must:

    • drive in forwards
    • drive out forwards.

You are not allowed to reverse in or out of these parking spaces, unless a sign says you can.
As I'm in the CBD nearly 99% of my work time, I see close to 100% of these idiots reversing out of them.
How on earth can they consider that this is safe for them to do? Just goes to show exactly how stupid most folk are.

They obviously do it because they want to continue on in the direction of the side of the road they want to be, because it's far too hard(and safe!) to drive out, like a normal person and do a U turn about 5 meters down.

I recall one time on Lonsdale St, I was on break, I watched this pretty young Asian girl with zero idea on how to drive, must have taken at least 5 mins to not successfully back out of one spot. I finished my smoke(why I know she took min 5 mins), and I walked up and politely explained not only it's illegal and dangerous(which she surely must have realised, considering it took so long to not be able to get out in reverse) but that, had she driven forward and done a u turn it may have taken a total of about 30 sec to be on the right side of the road heading in her preferred direction.
Somehow, I think she won't remember to drive forward for centre parking.

The level of stupidity on the roads nowadays has reached the level after 'next level'.
    Arthur.

Noted I did reverse in to my place and did not at the place I parked my car at 10pm. Calling myself a hypocrite now

I almost always reverse in and drive out forwards...

Much safer, much easier. And you wont get pinned in if somebody comes along and parks to close next to you either...

In a shopping centre its also better for loading the rear of the vehicle - no standing in the roadway like a target!

Mining ops states we reverse in everywhere, so its second nature. DiDo is only for big bits of kit.
