    LRO ceasing publication

Just sent a story that after a review the publisher behind LRO has decided to ‘pause’ publication of the magazine which has been on the market for 35 years

Last issue will be the May 2023 which comes out in the UK in April

Reason given is that the title is no longer viable

I guess that was bound to happen some day. I do wonder what will be happening to the online version, I bought a single issue once through an ipad app they offered since I wanted that specific story. There has always been the fear that the app would stop working etc. but now that the magazine has closed shop, even if the app still works on an old device; will the issue still be downloadable?

In any case it is sad to see magazines go...

I just renewed for another year about a month ago, but have to ring them with my new credit card expiry date soon, so will ask about this when I do. Perhaps it will be online only?

Well, I tried ringing LRO last night but missed them due to the time zones, so here is their statement.

“Following a recent review, Bauer Media has decided to indefinitely pause publishing Land Rover Owner International (LRO) magazine.
Despite strong consumer support for the title, which has been the UK’s leading magazine for Land Rover enthusiasts for the last 35 years, the print magazine is not commercially viable in the current challenging climate. The last issue will be the May-23 issue, on sale 12-April 2023. A letter is going out this week to subscribers explaining their options.”

I rang LRO the other day as promised, and they said it hadn't been paused but stopped and said I could transfer my subscription to any of the other mags in their stable, but by sticking to my guns I managed to get a refund.

There is no mention of it in the app. It's sad.

It is a shame to see the mag go. I got a letter from them saying that the unused part of my subscription would be refunded to my CC. Might have give LRM another try, although there were pretty anti L663 a couple of years ago.
