    Travel Melbourne Airport to Moorabin.

I know a lot of you live in and around Melbourne.

I have to travel down that way and have to get from Melbourne airport to Moorabin. Now if I go by taxi it will probably cost more than the flight down. So looking for alternatives.

Now I could catch the Sky Bus from the airport to the CBD and then switch to another Skybus and the total cost is around $60 plus a taxi fare at the end.

So not knowing transport in Melbourne is there any other viable option that will not break the bank?

    Thanks

    Travel Melbourne Airport to Moorabin.

    One option would be:

Skybus to City (takes you to Southern Cross Station) then train to Moorabbin Train station on the Frankston Line.

There is also a bus route from Melbourne Airport to Broadmeadows Station. Or you get an Uber or taxi to Broadmeadows Station - then train to Flinders and change to train to Frankston - getting off at Moorabbin.

Skybus to CBD is the more convenient option.

Google maps will show different options using public transport.

It would actually be cheaper to hire a car than the taxi or skybus / taxi options.
IMO The convenience of hire car outweighs other options regardless of cost.

    Skybus all the way ...

As you know, you can get to Moorabbin station on Skybus but PTV's journey planner says that Skybus goes there directly with no need to change to a different bus - it appears to go direct from the airport, with the first stop at St. Kilda and Moorabbin the last one, 23 minutes later.

Thanks for all those suggestions and I have looked at most of them.

Taxi from the calculator will be about $90.

Hire Care from Hertz is about $200 but another provider has one for $110.

Sky bus with Seniors Card is $47

Taxi at the end about $10.

So for convenience a taxi is the easiest - door to door.

Cheapest is Sky Bus and Taxi but possibly a few changes etc.

Meanwhile airfares down to Melbourne change by a few hundred $$$ depending on the time of day you fly.

    Thanks

    Travel Melbourne Airport to Moorabin.

Taxi fare calculators can fail to add all the extras - Airport Rank Fee, CPV Levy, Toll Fees, Credit or Cab Charge fees. Plus if traffic is bad (most of the time), you can spend a lot more time stationary which adds more.

And Melbourne Taxi drivers have been known to not go the most direct way if they suspect you are not from Melbourne - if challenged they will say it is because the traffic is bad (true most of the time).

If it helps - traffic is good between 2am and 4am…..(as long as there are no roadworks). Travel Melbourne Airport to Moorabin.

    (I hate Melbourne traffic).

That taxi quote sounds wildly unlikely - I live in the inner northern suburbs and used to fly to Sydney a couple of times a week for work: it used to be $50 - $60 just to get to Brunswick ....
