Tesla, like most American brands they suffer poor build quality and are very anti consumer. New models to Australia are also made in china.

From memory, TESLA. needs a return tryst with it's Authori$ed Dealer to electronically introduce any active spare part to the various ECU's... So buying a s/h door mirror won't save you much money...[bigsad]

Edit: - Brief conversation with a spouse of a TESLA family.... Opinion was strong preference for previous car's good points Vs. Tesla's TWO saving graces... insane acceleration and relative cheapness to 'fuel'.

They had no idea their car communicates with TESLA. - Behind their backs, so to speak. (Another trend of newer cars ...)

The (brilliant). Tesla Battery Management hard/software is a significant proportion of the capacity you paid for.

Worst modern car I've driven has to be my stepdaughter's Prius. Ugh. They tell me the newest ones are "interesting", but I'm not in a hurry to find out.

The last few years of Falcon and Commodores had excellent build quality and were every bit as good as anything from Europe or Japan in same price range or configuration. It's a great pity the Aus public were too stupid to have a decent look at them when buying.

Falcodores didn't really work for families - I had a Falcon rental car when my oldest was in a capsule and it was an absolute pain in the arse to get the capsule in and out of the back seat. In contrast our CR-V (first gen) was a doddle - bigger, squarer doors that opened to a wide angle, didn't have to bend over to load him in, more vertical and horizontal space in there too. I didn't mind the Territory but they made some stupid model planning decisions, like releasing the Turbo petrol engine (which had shocking fuel economy) when everyone wanted a more economical option (like a diesel) rather than a less economical version. Another rental Falcon with minimal kms only got as far as Ballarat (from Melbourne) before Hertz had to swap it for a different car because of the multiple issues with the engine, gears and suspension, and it wasn't the only dodgy Falcon rental that I had.

Falcodores worked for families for generations - They wouldn’t have been 1 and 2 for decades had they not - I never had issues with the baby capsule in either as I’ve had both when we had kids. The only car that was a PITA with a capsule was the 2 door Torana - but I put up with it because I loved the car.

Oh I grew up in HR, HD and WB Holdens - but by the time the Commodore and Falcon's production run ended almost no families were buying them, they were almost exclusively company rep cars.

Yeah, but making a sweeping statement about them not suiting families is a bit of a stretch IMO. It’s the advent of the dual cab ute that changed that, not the fact they were unsuitable for so many years.

Many also went to smaller vehicles as well,where Holden and Ford continued to manufacture big vehicles people didn’t want.

The dual cab ute also took over because it was 4WD,so families could go for a holiday run up the beach every so often….
