I'd also put a horse in the list of **** transport not to buy.

and besides, they arent YOUR options, they are simply my own opinion and my own options.

Going back to Gav's question of the 5 star safety and who makes this crap up....?
    ANCAP/EuroNCAP do!

Assuming a car has all the other prerequisites to gain a 5 star rating, the default settings of all the passive safety stuff like lane keep assist, blind spot monitor needs to be ON for the car to keep 5 stars. My new Ranger has the ability to turn these off (which is good cos they drive me mad) but the default setting next time I turn the car on again is that these "aids" are all back on.
Sounds like at Haval they skipped the ability to turn them off and just left them on!

Speaking of Ranger, I obviously don't have a Monday morning or Friday arvo car cos mine's been faultless!

And back to the topic at hand, worst new car I've been in recently would unfortunately have to be a Disco 5.
Not that there was anything wrong with it, it was just soooo disappointing. Having been in a few Disco 4s, I thought the 5 was noisier, the ride was worse and the interior didn't look as nice (or as well put together).
Maybe my expectations were too high??

My car, which primarily gets me or my kids to work, is due for a replacement early next year. The things listed here are the reasons I’m regressing (or advancing…depending on you POV) to the simplicity of my teenage years and doing a full rebuild on my 88 inch, with a few enhancements like upgraded brakes and a Roamerdrive. It’ll work well as my world is on a floodplain (so it’s flat) with mostly 80 kph roads and few traffic lights on my daily routes. I hate the driver assist stuff and constant beeps and warnings…other than being annoying it seems it’s just more stuff to go wrong. At least I can fix Lucas electrical components when they go wrong.

Just got to beat and paint the panels and it’ll be finished, in time for commissioning and shakedown later this year Crappy cars - the worst new or modern car you’ve driven.. With mostly genuine or OEM parts and doing it all myself, it’ll be delivered for $15k including new the tyres and the Roamerdrive (along with machining they’re probs the most expensive bits) - much cheaper than a new car would cost. I’m really looking forward to having it as my daily drive, and intend to use it for as long as my back can take it…

Third engine was on way out with same symptoms but BMW dealer said was nothing wrong with it. Got that in writing and included it with the car when sold it

After I sold it worked out vehicle had spent half of the 2 years of ownership in the dealer where it was having an affair with the mechanic

Replaced it with a Range Rover as could not deal with the BMW quality. Have owned a few Range Rovers and never had a serious problem with one. Would never own another BMW

Couple of friends had the same BMW at the time and all had problems with the vehicle just not to the level of mine. Of course if you asked they would say all was good but if you pressed them the stories would come out. Once one said something the others would also have a sad story to tell. One keeps going back for the BMW quality even though has problems with each

Well I’m at the Airport and finally rid of that bucket of ****. It’s really sad that these are the kind of cars we’re becoming accepting of, they are so far behind a 20 year old Dunny Door or Falcon as far as comfort and driving goes it’s not funny.

They might have driving aids to assist ****ty drivers - but they shouldn’t have a license to start with - but the low level of the current driving test is beyond the scope of this thread (or is it? Crappy cars - the worst new or modern car you’ve driven.), but to have a vehicle that drives so badly, is noisy, uncomfortable, harsh suspension and much more beggars belief yet suckers line up and drop their hard earned on these **** boxes and think they have a great car. Poor sods…

Mate bought a new one to replace an old LC200,use as a daily and tow a 3.4t van,he had the LC and van for over 12yrs.
He hated it from the day it arrived, and found it didn't tow well either. He put that down to it's weight, quite a bit less than the van.
Went back to what he had before.

Make sure it's an Australian Stock Horse. Good temperament, gentle, cooperative and excellent build quality. You'll need to learn to live with stone age electronics but they are self driving and autonavigating, returning from the pub.

Think I'd have my BA Fairmont over the lot of 'em.

Worst modern car I've driven has to be my stepdaughter's Prius. Ugh. They tell me the newest ones are "interesting", but I'm not in a hurry to find out.

You might interest me in a Kia Stinger GT though.
