Forget Rolf. Remember the innocent victims. This news might give their lives a little brief lift but their tomorrow will still dawn tainted like it has for the past decades.

Two words from me. Good Riddance.
    Dave.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

I posted the above because of this.
Some years ago we were at a wedding. Both parties were getting on in years. The man had proposed to the woman but she agreed to marry him if he stayed sober for a year, which he did. Not long after the wedding a government report came out into past abuse of children in a state run care home. It was bleak. The husband went back on the drink and the marriage collapsed. That report obviously brought back a lot of bad memories to that man of his past life. Anyone who suffers this abuse will never get over it.

My wife brought up his death while in the car with my 13YO daughter. She started to talk about his shows and that she watched them as a child. I asked her to stopped talking about it. He doesn't rate discussion in my book. I was even loath to mention it here.

I think it's always a discussion worth having for a couple of reasons.

One, it teaches people to separate the art from the artists. Plenty of art has been created by reprehensible people throughout history. Doesn't mean the art itself isn't good.

Two, and most important (in my opinion) is it is a fantastic case study for "doesn't matter how wonderful they may seem, there can always be ulterior motives or bad intentions".

I feel the same way about Bill Cosby. Doesn't mean I don't laugh at his comedy the same as I laughed before I found out he was also deeply flawed.

If you try and erase history there's no opportunity to learn from it.

Not me James I was wondering if that urn would make a nice Bespoke Alternative Instant Coffee container.
    Can't stand those bloody Jars.

Back on subject & keep this to yourself shipmate. No-one else OK?

When I turned 14 I left school (circa 1950) & got a job with a large now defunct Dept. Store in the city. My work took me often to the Basement where the Department Stock Shelves were. It was also close to the area that the Cleaners used on a Daily basis. One of the old bastards always found a reason to stick his head in the door to say Hello. Each time he left he always wanted a "feel" of my pants (without any success as it happens (Pheeeew)) & one day he tried to actually get "physical" Literally. I was able to get on my toes & get out of the situation. At 14 I really did not know what to do with options. (Report him to his boss even though he could have been one of his old lags after many years in the job & possibly had been at it himself?) MD ditto. In the end I simply made excuses not to go to the Stock Room, my head of Dept was a woman & at 14 & this is the first time I have mentioned it ,easy to say now what I should have done, but back then these matters were not discussed. Anyway I eventually left the joint & time rolled on as it does & I didn't think too much more about it.
You never know who to trust that is not into this **** so watch your arse.

One day some years later I picked up a copy of a newspaper & found he had snuffed it but by then all this **** was much more publicised. End of.

    Hi,
I seem to remember there being a 'report to moderator' function somewhere, but couldnot seem to find it.

The triangle, slightly left of centre, at the bottom of each post.
    This one's under control.
