I finally won against the council.

Hi guys it paid off with all the phone calls and emails sent to the council, as I was flooded out Oct 2022. Which caused a lot a damage to garage by punching a whole in to the garage and damaged all Mario stuff that was in there.
This is a copy of the letter I received this morning.

Thank you for your Stormwater inquiry regarding the concerns about stormwater drainage for property 6 Walter Street Tecoma.

Managing stormwater in our municipality can be challenging due to the terrain. Drainage issues often arise from the land contours and the positioning of properties within this environment. To investigate your matter, Council officers conducted a CCTV investigation and cleaned the pipe. During this process, we discovered a large tree trunk blocking the flow, causing the overland flow to run down the slope. Additionally, we conducted a drainage survey to gain a detailed understanding of how the water flows through your property.

Based on the survey results, Council has proposed a minor drainage upgrade that will improve water flow and increase capacity. The upgrade involves installing a new pit (Melbourne Water Grade) with greater capacity and replacing the existing 300mm pipe with a larger 600mm pipe, accompanied by a new headwall to collect more water from the swale. Furthermore, the existing end wall will be connected to the new pit to divert water into the pipe instead of the swale. Lastly, we will clean the swale to ensure a smooth flow without any debris.

We have already assigned a contractor for the project, and they will commence the work as soon as possible.

So I hope with this I wont get flooded out in the future. Heather

No they wont give me any thing for the damage LOL. So far it has cost me over $3000 to replace the retaining wall that Mario put in about 25 years ago. This one is concert and the post are steel and go down further and set in concert with a drain behind it. Mario only put up sleepers. Insurance don't replace training walls, Looks like I am making head way with the garage, as they sent out a company that repairs garage. Can not get a new one because on side wall is concert blocks which is on the boundary and holds up next door drive way. It is solid as a rock the garage is I just want the back and front repaired so I can move on, I still have to give the insurance company prices on all the stuff in the garage like power tools etc. All this has taken nearly 10 months and I know this would have stress Mario out so much to see all this Heather

A step in the right direction, Heather. I hope they don't dilly-dally. Would be good to get it done before the next rainy season.

When I spoke to the council I was told that it would be June when they start the works. In the mean time I go up there with my metal rake and make sure the grill and pipe are not covered or blocked with rubbish. I have been going up there once week or maybe more if we have had heavy rain with my metal rake to make sure it is still clear. I think I should be charging them maintenance fees LOL. Heather

Hi guys just an update, I woke up this morning to machine noise and I looked out the back and the contractors has started the works on the creek/drain.
So it does pay off to keep pushing when you are right. That has taken a bit more stress of me, because I was always scared when it rain heavy. Heather

Maybe a kind gesture to offer them a cuppa at smoko. Could be a shrewd investment, too.
