Give Carways Transport a try. Ph 03 9315 9330. I have used them before to bring vehicles out of Canberra. Very efficient and door to door service. The cost of getting it home will pale into insignificance once the restoration costs start to add up.

    Thanks for the ideas.

The car carier companies wanted between $617 and $930 depending on wether it is door to door or depot to depot. Their idea of driving is everything working 100%. The guy i bought it off said it starts and drives but the foot brake and clutch master cylinders are cactus. I will ask him if the handbrake is good. Thanks for the thoughts, i think i will give that mob in Gosford a ring. I tried hiring a small truck for a one way trip and Thrifty wanted $1200 which is a bit steep for me. If anyone is driving up from Melbourne their is certainly more than a case of beer in it for them. They are welcome to what the car carriers would have cost me if they had been prepared to take it (plus the case of beer as long as i can help destroy it with you when you arrive). Thanks again.

    Hypothetical

Let's say 2,000km 'round trip with picking up trailer, car etc.

    = 200 litres Diesel x $1.4 = $280 (LPG costs would be similar)
    + Trailer Hire $55 per day = $110
+ 20 hours driving at $20 per hour (minus what you would have paid in Tax if you were actually working for that much = $14 per hour) 20 x 14= $280

    $280 + $110 + $280 = $670

There you go guys, if you've got a couple of day's off and want to do a mate a favour & make some $$$ here's a trip for you.

Sorry I can't help you, I could go another road trip if I had the time.
