The C70 is built on the same platform as a ford focus mate I'm sorry. Only real advantage is they owned mazda as well at that time so some of that may have spilled over.

Apart from his and her Patrols, my son has a Focus as his DD. He loves it. Never misses a beat and is fun to drive.
Before they got the Y62 they had a Ranger 3.2 six speed. 150k and the only thing that broke was the thermostat at 20k. Beats most modern LRs.

Stayed at the darling harbour one a couple of years ago. It was pretty good! (A complimentary beer on arrival goes a long way )

A few days later I bumped into the same 264 at a local mechanical workshop, the owner proudly explaining that nothing could keep up with the blown V8 and the old Volvo made an excellent sleeper!
He did comment though that keeping it straight was a bit of a problem with only one front wheel on the deck due to the torque twisting the car.

My uncle put a rover v8 into a poo brown 244 when I a kid. Apparently its still on the road down in melbourne. the main thing I remember about it was how good it sounded! He drove it for years and years. (this would probably be 30`ish years ago). with the 4cylinder auto and diff in it ... it apparently near did wheel stands down the road under acceleration (as you could imagine they didn't survive long )
