    Yet another driving light thread

But a quick one I hope. Not asking for recommendations or anything, I'm just specifically asking if anyone has a set of Kings driving lights and their thoughts on them. Plenty of google reviews etc which make me think they'll be fine for my application, but thought I'd ask anyway.

They are for the new Dmax - this car won't be going off road, or touring etc - It's mostly a daily driver but the high beams are crap so I've ordered a nudge bar for it and I'm looking at a budget set of light as they won't get used much.

These - Home Page - Adventure Kings - are half price at the moment so look very good value for money. I can't justify any of the 'brand' name lights as they are dumb money for the amount of use they'll get.

I have other Kings products and they are ok for the money - I'm just looking for anyone who may have some experience wit their lighting.

    TIA

Next on my list of whinges about the D-max. My D2 LOW beams are better.

Can't comment on those dls. though. I have an older set I don't like, but they ain't the same.

I've had a few of their light bars for the same reason - stupidly cheap, what could go wrong??

So far not much. Can't grumble at the light output for the money and the stainless fittings have lasted better than expected. The only thing is the electrical suppression can be a bit dodgy. One was fine but the other one would scramble the radio when it was on!

Thanks for the replies - have ordered a couple of sets for work. Got 2 sets, 2 sets of 4” lights for the back and shipping for less than a mid range set of lights, and under a 1/3 of what a ‘good’ set goes for.

Bit late as i see you already ordered them ...Had a set on my truck , they do draw more power than the better brands and i did have 1 of the brackets crack but kings replaced both of them with a complete new set of lights no questions asked..even let me keep the first set..
The bottom set were big reds which i thought were over rated and cost twice as much as the top set of kings .

You can do far worse than kings lights.

I run a set of Kings on my FFR. While I don’t do a huge amount of night driving, I have been very happy so far (especially on my recent trip).

    Yet another driving light thread

Just to close this out the Kings lights are fitted and this morning was the first chance to use them in anger. They have good spread and also long distance penetration. Look decent as well. Yet another driving light thread

Kings Lethal 9” Premium LED Driving Lights

    Hi everyone,

I purchased the Kings 9" "Premium" lights with Osram LEDs six months ago. A keen price of $168.
I regularly need to use them on country roads at night, travelling to get away from town for the weekend.
I am more than happy with the illumination, penetration and ability to see animals. A massive step up from my old halogens.

They do dazzle somewhat, on the large green highway signs. Not a punishingly dazzle though, as far as I am concerned. I just mention it, in case this green-sign dazzle, is something that you really wish to avoid.

With regard to construction vibration durability, they have just survived the corrugated approach dirt roads and the sand dune tracks of a return trip to the Simpson Desert, crossing the Madigan Line. Please note that they were not actually illuminated whilst travelling those roads and tracks though. We were always daytime driving in the desert. However, the vibration has not destroyed them. (The vibration and shocks certainly punished a few other travelling items, but not these driving lights.)

The lights have a protective perspex cover, secured with cap screws, over a gasket, to make it weather-proof as well. When I installed the lights, I checked the cap screws on the covers and some were loose, so i tightened them. Writing this post, it reminded me to check the cap screws on the covers after the Simpson trip. I just made the check. Most of them had stayed tight, with a few needing a slight twitch up, but I certainly would not say that they had come loose.

I would buy these lights again.

    Best wishes, Jeff
