    Yoko G015 v Pirelli AT Plus hmmmmm

    Gday all, it's time to throw some new rubber on. I'd like to go to 18's, but it's not gonna happen, so I'm stuck with the 255/55/19. I've got it down to the Yoko G015 or the Pirelli AT Plus in Passenger only. I've had Yokos before, but I'm torn between these two now. Has anyone had both and can compare? I do mostly road KM's, and then tow our 3T caravan and abit of beach work once or twice a year.

    Can't compare but do similar road/towing to you. Fitted the Pirellis 10K ago and extremely happy with them towing and on gravel in the D4.

    Either tyre would be a good choice. I can only comment on the Pirelli Scorpion AT+ that I've had for just under 40,000km. Rotated regularly and swapped over to 18" wheels with Kumho MT51 (LT construction) for serious offroad or outback travel. I've been super impressed with the AT+ tyres and would have no hesitation in recommending them for your use.
    The Geolander looks to me to be a more road oriented tread, but there wouldn't be much in it.

    Cheers gents, hoping to find someone whos had both so can get a real world comparison, belive both are very close. I think from what Im reading the Yoko is better onroad in the wet and has better road manners, where the pirelli is better offroad.

    What did you end up getting and did you become the guinea pig for Yoko vs Pirellis?

    I recently got Pirellis AT+ in 265/60/18 to replace Coopers AT-3's for the front which were great but wore out, and I wasn't buying the AT3's I have on the back as they were noisy from new, the AT-plus are quiet which is a big consideration for me, and are grippy in the wet and dry and don't even slip on metal expansion joints on a curve on a freeway near me, and are good on dirt roads too in the few weeks I've had them.

    I'm currently using Pirelli ATR 245/70x16 on my Amarok.

    I had a set of Michelin LTX Force same size on it but blew one on a rock last year. the spare was an original Pirelli out of Brazil and left me with odd tyres(again).

    In my efforts to complete a set of 5 I ended up with a good Pirelli and a couple of good Michelins.

    A good friend tyre dealer checked balanced and swapped tyres and rims around so I now have a perfect set of Michelins and a partly worn set of Pirellis.

    I personally believe the Michelin is a better A/T tyre than the Pirelli. The Michelin is noisier on bitumen, but I recently raised my tyre pressures on the Pirellis to 46psi with a noted improvement in wear and general handling.

    Ive got 70 odd ks between both sets, to be honest both tyres are very good , previous tyres being Wildpeaks(yawn)697's(yawn)Khumo KL71...fantastic. I'm 71 now , whether I get to experience another brand is up to god.

    I am a Yokohama Geolandar fan boy as my local tyre centre knows....

    Have fitted them to many a D3, D4, Defender, my Dad's Defender and my Perentie.
    good wear and a great sand tyre

    and the big bonus, Yokohama more often do a buy 3 get one free!
