Not faster, more comfortable!
It’s easy to look up, tap, and even send to desktop the link/contact in seconds. (If you’re comfortable with the tech)
Heck, we used stock cards, until we didn’t. Software just beats it hands down.

Hello Rambling Boy,
I can relate to what you wrote about the 'tinker file'. When I went on my initial online hunt for library catalogue cards the eBay search came up with some cough ... "vintage" catalogue card boxes for sale. I thought gee they look nice - well patinaed solid timber. Only $150. I then looked down and realised 1) the item was for sale in America. 2) the cost of postage was $1970 Australian! I returned to my hunt for the cards themselves very shortly afterwards.
Kind regards
Lionel
Hi,
A friend from NZ had moved to Hobart.
Went to the hardware shop and asked for a box of corrugated fasteners.
Met with blank stares.
He pointed out a box behind the counter containing same.
"OH, you mean wriggly nails" he said, pulling down a box - labeled 'corrugated fasteners'.
Cheers
guys...

Im not that old and I remember all those things.....
Ill see your spoke sheave (loosely, a skinny 2 handed plane) and raise you a shingle pry....

I have several sets of both inch and metric feeler gauges, and last used them about a month ago. Spokeshaves, have a couple, but a while since I used them. How about a drawknife?
We used to use Job cards at work, and lots of other paperwork.Service reports, suppliers and contractors orders on paper, charts for services, when they were due,who did them, what date, faults found, quotes, customer details, time sheets, etc, etc.
Six years ago we moved to a service program, best thing we ever did.
It is called moving with the times.
It actually cut our office work back by over 50%.And reduced paperwork mistakes to just about 0.
And makes everything run much smoother and easier for everyone including the Techs on the road.
Using a service program also makes it so easy to trace things,or search for something, before it was looking through paperwork,at times, for hours.
