The long-time supervisor at the central parts store of my employer's mining business where we installed a company-wide online stock system in the late 70s scrapped his dusty cards after about a year, not having referred to the cards since the first few days of the computer system going live. The mine storemen had ditched their cards after a couple of weeks, now being able to know stock at other sites for dead of night breakdowns.Quote:

I went to a training course a few months ago and one of the blokes before me had put his birthdate as 1998, so I tapped him on the shoulder and said, "That can't be right mate." thinking he'd made a mistake as it felt like just yesterday and he replied it was as he is only 24!

I remember at primary school my two sisters and I on rare occasions were allowed to buy lunch. For the princely sum of one and six we got "6 of chips and 6 of fritters (potato cakes) and a piece of fish. More than enough for the three of us.[bigsmile1]Quote:
