With a whistle to let you know the letters had been delivered.

And for anyone that had a pet parrot, like we did,the bloody whistle went on continually, all day, every day.

My primary school covered two sites and the canteen was where gd 3, 4, 5, 6 existed.
I had to wait until I was in gd3 to visit.

Pies were 8d, buns were 4d. sandwiches were 6d.

No tv for us till 1960, so it was The Argonauts on radio for entertainment after school.

Nib pens still in use for regular gd3, but we actually used biros as the trial class for the state pior to the switch.

Spit/paper balls propelled by rulers and disused nib pens embedded in tin ceiling some 18 feet up. Stone building built 1895.

The school still had medecine balls but they were out of favour. (Cubs had them in use still till around '62).

Times tables learnt by verbalising every morning, up to 12 x 12. My parents learnt up to 20 x20.

Uniform inspection was weekly. Fingernails too. Had a fortnightly test, plus exams at end of each of the three terms.

In High School the exams were twice yearly. Tests were whenever the respective subject teachers thought of them.

Interesting concept which I can relate to.

I was 50, single, separated from wife of 20 years (now divorced), when I met someone who became 'girlfriend'. She was 32.

Was fun, lots of happy times........... somewhat (but not overly) expensive when we went away to a food and wine etc weekend (coz she had 3 kids that came too).

She was honest, not ready to settle down. Last time we talked she'd just got married ...................

    for the fourth time.

    cheers, DL

Works for me. My son still isn’t sure as she is only a year older than him, but what the heck? Nobody can promise a future.

When I was a kid a treat was taking some saucepans to a Chinese place and having them sorta filled up.

A hamburger was 20 cents. 45 with the lot.
