AT RESTWell it seems I am now on the home stretch with the insurance company after a year. They have already paid for the repair of the garage and a storm water pipe that was damaged. Which both those are now repaired by me finding tradies to do. They got a company to come out and list the items, in which they sent me the list and I had to find the prices of all those thing, 61 items, all Mario power tools, and the special tools like his torque wrench which had a computer screen, boy this item wasn't cheap for his Landrovers. I sent them the prices of all the stuff and they are going to pay that amount, I also add a skip to that as well to clean out the garage. So I seem to be moving on again. Just hope I am doing all the things right, and the way Mario would have done. Heather

AT RESTI have received an email from them with the amount that they are paying which is the same amount I sent them. I just have to reply with a yes and they will put the money in to my account. And yes insurance companies do try to wear people down. As we have had it first hand with and accident that Mario had at a company he worked for, which drag on for 8 years, and the company was found in fault. And after that he made his mind up to open his own business that he could do from home, as he was the brain and I pick up the manual work, packing, invoices unpacking orders. This is the way he was able to move on with his family

Thankfully our insurer (RACWA) has been good following storm damage to a part of our roof at the end of May.... the day after I paid the premiums.I did dispute one settlement amount but mostly things have progressed well.
A lot of tiles replaced although as they're no longer made in the style we have; green ones replaced our faded black tiles.Tiles moved around so the different colours not so visible from the street. Carpets replaced, curtains same, 3 ceilings and insulation replaced and all walls painted.
Only bugbear is the furniture restoration which has dragged on because the so called 'craftsman' restorer really isn't that good.
I worked in insurance years ago as an underwriter (machinery engineering risks) and if it was a claim under their 'sudden and unforeseen' wording, it was paid out very quickly. All damage assessed by independent people who were very good and fair.

AT RESTI received an email from the insurance company saying that they have transferred the money, and I have checked and they have paid the full amount including the cost of a skip which I added to the list.
So the next thing is to get a skip in and clean out the garage, but I will have to wait until the weather gets better, as it is cold and raining. Heather
