Thinking of organising a do for this, next October.
I realise committing to an event a year in advance is fraught with perils, but for such a meeting to take place, venues have to be booked at least twelve months in advance.
The current thoughts are Dayboro Showground on the October long weekend.
Open to suggestions on entertainment, so far considering...
Gentle off road tour off Mt Mee.
Gymkhana.
Formal dinner.
Trivia.
Raffle(s).
Various other prizes (lucky door etc.).
Looking for expressions of interest to gauge feasibility. Due to time constraints the poll will only be open for seven days.
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.

Geez. I'd love to say 'Myself and an "Under 45" ', but that's never going to happen, ay!
'sit bonum tempora volvunt'
Doesn't seem to be a lot of interest.

How about we slightly alter the intention here. Forget the 76th birthday thing, not significant.
I put it to the people of this forum that we engage in an annual event in SE Qld of like mind individuals and their families in celebration of all things Land Rover. The first of these celebrations we would like to take place over the October long weekend of 2024. Followed by the October long weekend 2025, etc, etc. See a pattern forming?
We (a couple of us) along with some LROC contacts from the recent 75th Anniversary event in Goomeri, have suggested that the first of these annual events take place at the Dayboro showgrounds. Why there you ask?
Well, it is not too far from the Gold and Sunshine coasts and easily accessible from Brisbane and surrounds. Also it is not too onerous a journey for anyone in the Darling Downs, Wide Bay Burnett or parts of Central Qld, as well as northern NSW. Yes Rick we will let you in. If people want to travel from outside these areas you will also be most welcome to attend.
To facilitate the planning of such a gargantuan event, we need to book the showground well ahead of this required date (like now). I'm pretty sure the LROC's have interest in this event going ahead, but we would very much like to get some significant expressions of interest in order to proceed.
There is no eraser on the pencil of life.
Now - Not a Land Rover (2018 Dmax)
Was - 2008 D3 SE 4.0l V6
Was - 2000 D2 TD5 with much fruit.

SubscriberI attended the Unlimited Horizons adventure bike international event, yes international in Dayboro back in 2015.
All ill say is that the organisers of the international event won't be back anytime soon.
The town was very unwelcoming to us adventure bike people and I was 56 at the time, so not a bunch of idiots. Mostly professional people riding BMWs.
Especially the pub, it seems they wanted to stay in the 1900s they were very rude and the locals were worse to the point of wanting to fight people.
The showgrounds were OK with plenty of access just don't venture to far from camp.
Still leaves me flabbergasted as to how a town less than an hour from Brisbane can be so archaic in their collective thinkings

It doesn't me. Redneck culture is persistent.
If something has to be in SEQ ( Why? There is far more LR history in the southern states ) then somewhere like Boonah might be better. They have some facilities ( "formal dinner" might be a stretch ) and there is already a weekend classic car culture active there. And, as Ian would probably tell you, the Dugandan pub is no stranger to bikes, so LRs wouldn't faze them. Might be a bit small is all. There is a "tavern" in Boonah itself, but I never darkened its doors so can't comment.
And no, before anyone asks, there is no longer any connection between me and a certain person who lives there. I just like the place.

Possibly because it is Queensland centric, only SEQ, it's not a public hol for everyone, the date is of no signifigance, there are major sporting events at that time ( well the Victorian one is major, but some others gain some attention ), and the poll was probably only read by the usual suspects on here. I include myself in that group, but I didn't see it. If I had I might have said yes, as any excuse to come north was high in my thinking at the time. But I wouldn't be coming now.
Also, sadly, I reckon that thinking changed a couple of years back. Vic used to get a decent turnout for the Winter Wombat each August. Now I doubt the weekend will happen at all. No interest. I, for one, hope that changes, as these gatherings are a good way to meet, and put faces to names, and see people as they are, not how they comment. For that reason I applaud the intent, Ian, but I reckon the idea needs work. It also needs a wider audience, or you just wind up with the same people, nice folk that they are for sure.
I know the thinking is different over events, but one reason WW used to work was it stayed away from pubs and formality. The whole LR ethic of "roughing it", including kids, and camping ( well, some of us did. Gav had the Wombat Hilton, but he's Gav ) made the whole thing something for everyone. Of course, it also happened because a handful of people did a LOT of work for the communal meal thing. When that died WW sorta did too.
Just my two bob's worth.
