Thread: Chain saw oil?

I haven't watched the vid, but I felled a tree that was nearly three axe lengths in diameter. I had to cut a box section out of the trunk so as to get the saw in far enough for the back cut. This was in the '70s, up Mt. Marysmokes way, near Kilcoy. I'm thinking I would have been using a then American made, McCullough saw with a 30" bar, but it may have been a Stihl.

A mate of mine was a timber cutter in PNG for 25 yrs,before retiring.
Just imagine cutting trees down that sort of size and larger in the rugged,wet,muddy,hot and humid conditions.

Then getting them out onto the logging trucks.
Very dangerous work as well.

His company car was an old series 3 LR,it used to break down often as it got a hiding in the conditions.
There is not to much he doesn't know about chainsaws.

There was a bloke, let's call him Stan, who cut timber in the Mt. Brisbane area (West of Lake Somerset) who wandered around barefooted and used a two-man Stihl by himself. A rather large chappy, as one would gather. His vehicle was an XD/XE Falcon 'tilly. I can't remember for sure.

When we constructed the trig. station on Mt. Brisbane in the '70s, it was named in his honour.
