Many years ago I had a cleaning business. When cleaning the car park you would find piles of cigarette buts. People had been sitting in their cars and having nothing much else to do would just open the door and tip them out on the ground. There were plenty of rubbish bins they could have used

Many years ago, nearly 50 actually, I used to go to Carnarvon WA to a salt mine north of the town. Rubbish strewn every for about the first 20 or so kays from town. But it was much the same coming back from the mine with crap everywhere specially cans and bottles. Obviously they'd been slaking their thirst after a hard day's salt shovelling ....
Back then the local mostly minor offenders used to be taken out to pick it up as part pf their sentence or rehab.
I well remember the rental car people moaning that our hire car was full of beer cans on the floor in the rear and we should have just chucked them out the window as did everyone else.
Nothings changed it seems except probably they no longer use the convicts to clean up... probably not allowed now under UN rules re their 'human rights' or some such crap.

Yes it was around '74 -'75 I went there first to a place then run by Texada Mines or something. All part of Dampier Salt now I believe. I've been there about a million times since when on road trips or when working and staying overnight.

Hillman Hunter Royal 660. Back then (new in 1971) it was Chartreuse (green) metallic with a vinyl roof.
