    Running Smooth

I seem to have most things done, insurance has paid for all of Mario's power tools etc about 3 weeks ago. Now to get a skip and stacking all the stuff that has to go in the garage. I still have to sell Mario's pride and joy 5.5 mt boat. And yesterday just having breakfast eating toast my top back tooth broke. I rang the dentist and they had a cancel appointment and I got in at 6pm yesterday. And $275 later, and now most of that tooth is filling now. I have been happy with this dentist, Mario saw him and got my sons to see him and my son girlfriend see him as well. I like him as they do not judge people, which is rear these day as most of them judge people and then try to rip you off. Heather

Had a dental emergency a few months back, Heather. Couldn't get in, but found one at EACH, in the old motor reg place in the 'Gully, if you remember back that far. Free!. They just pulled it out, but still.

Well I spoke to soon, fully charged up my son car, he is the one that is in Japan, and she tires to turn over and then I lose power as it dies. Had a friend come up with his jump/power pack that can be used on trucks and it did the same.
He thinks it might be the alternator as the engine bay is really dirty with some snail shell etc. It is not the battery as there is a light on the battery showing that the battery is fine and doesn't show replace battery. So I am going to call racv next week to come and test the alternator, and if it is I am going to call Uptech and see what they can do. Mario knows the guys up there, I had my car serviced there in 2022. And get Brendon's car towed there, I have only used racv about a handful of times over the 20+ years. This is where I miss Mario as he would be right on these things.

Which car is it, Heather? I could pop down and have a quick look if you like. No promises, but I'm free! I'll also be seeing Tony and the boys next week.

Hi John it is Brendon's car the Kia Rio. I am home not going any where over the weekend now. But I am going to get RACV to come next week and test the alternator and battery and see what they say. If it need work I was going to ring uptech and see what they say. Heather

Sounds more like a starter issue, Heather. If the battery is charged the motor should turn over, particularly with a boost. The alternator has nothing to do with starting.
How long has the car been sitting, unstarted? Maybe more serious than ancillary components.
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.

I think about 5 months. It showed all the bars on the charger saying full charge and once I try to start it, it has good power for a second and then dies. When I put it back on the charger, the lights on the charge goes back to one bar, and starts recharging. This battery has been recharge so many time over the years, Brendon drove the car in June 2022 when he came home for the funeral. I just wish Brendon sold it when he went to Japan 2019. But with covid everything stop, so he couldn't come home for holidays.

Sounds like a new battery is overdue, my guess it that will solve the problem.

Thanks Ian that is what another of our friends said. He said it doesn't mean much what that indicator says on the battery. The battery was bought around 2018 that's when Mario was still driving the Rangrover and we went to supercheap and he was driving. I really hope it is that. I will let you know what happens when I get RACV to come out next week. You guys are always there when people need a bit of help,Thanks again Heather
