That's pretty much what Q Bond is, except the fibre component is a chopped powder and could contain colloidal silica as well.

It helps to lightly sand any surface being glued to remove any shine in improve the 'keying'.

Good for repairing the gears in old LR speedos and odometers............ file the cracks out, use the mix, then use the small files to remake any damaged teeth. This came up just fine afterward:

Reseeting the odo while the car is moving causes this in older RRC's for some reason, the the R/H drive gets trashed.

Superglue and bicarb does the same thing.

That's the one. I learned a long time ago not to skimp on superglue so I usually buy either Loctite or Gorilla. The filler isn't that important, it just has to catalyse the glue.

I think what interested me was how you could form the cotton before applying the glue, something clumsy me fails at with bicarb.
