Buy local and be punished for it.

This will be a familiar story. About 10 days ago I ordered two separate, unrelated items from two different businesses, one in Australia and the other in the US. Six days later, the item from the US business had been in my hands for 24 hours and was already in service, when I get an email from the Sydney business to tell me they have dispatched the item. The next day I check the tracking link in their email and the Aus Post tracking page tells me the item has not yet been received. They were, however, able to send me two spam marketing emails in that period of time. It's now day ten and the Aus Post tracking tells me they have the item. Hooray! Yet another example of why I do not make any special effort to by from Australian businesses (I do however make a special effort NOT to buy from China).

If you get a supplier that is well organised the item should be there the next day.In Aus that is,East Coast.Things from WA always take longer.

Most are just too lazy or disorganised.

I ordered an Ice machine (head only)yesterday, transferred the money at around 10.00 am,it was here this morning at 9.30 am.Newcastle to Brisbane.Weighed 142KG,it is now in and running on site.
    Normal freight,not express.

I get stuff from Adelaide overnight, from Sydney or Melbourne in two days and from Brisbane in three days.

Same supplier, same software etc etc

Half of it is the way the freight companies route the stuff obviously....

You just can never understand how the courier companies think. I ordered some stuff from the USA. Supplier was based on east coast USA in a major coastal city so only the Atlantic between us.

From the tracking I could see my parcel going on an extensive farewell tour of the USA. The courier company who is a global name spent 2 weeks sending it all on the USA from coast to coast and places between and back again

My parcel finally arrived 3 weeks after it started the journey

I’m 2 suburbs away from Malaga. I’ve just had a package go Shop (in malaga)->malaga mail center->perth airport mail center->NSW mail center->Perth airport mail center->Malaga mail center->my house.

It’s a ~10kg granite surface plate, so not small or light. I’ve had packages come into Perth airport and come to me via NSW and QLD. So much for efficiency.

I wonder if the courier companies have a KPI about how long a parcel rests in a location? To meet the company KPI if the parcel is reaching the time limit they just chuck it on the next truck so they are not penalized

Cheer up it's just as bad on this side of the pond. I can ship faster and easier TO the US than local. Also, from sweden to the Netherlands is a day, two at most, the other way around takes over a week. Same addresses, same companies (local national mail service) the only difference is the direction. I am at a loss...

New delivery coming. Posted in Balcatta. This gets picked up and consolidated at the Malaga mail center. It then gets shipped to the package center in Welshpool, which then ships it back to Malaga to be delivered to me.

What the actual ****? I suppose I should the thankful it didn't go via NSW this time.

Edit: Nope, wrong. Instead of going to Welshpool it was mis-sorted and sent to Walliston. Now re-directed to be "forwarded to correct location", wherever that is.... Way to go Aust Post.
Next time I'll drive the 6km and pick the sodding thing up myself!
