One of the other guys on here Caveman has 3 long thin scuba tanks in the back of his disco and a false floor over the top... ;)Quote:

Valve Seat Recession only applies to Cast Iron Heads.Quote:

With petrol, gas is used instead of petrol.Quote:

I checked out the website, I really don't think the savings are substantial. Considering the potetial costs:
1. If your gaskets are not tight in the block, then their is potential of gas leakage.
2. Number 1 will occur with time, mine 1991 is pretty much there!
3. If you take it off-road, (you should if you don't), then you risk ruptured tank, gass lines, collision with tree! depending on where you fit them!
4. What happens to the ability of engine braking, will this effect hill decent, I'm not an expert, but it might!
5. I assume that the engine will need to be highly tuned all the time, so it can't run lean or light, as we normally let them given that they are survivors.
Just playing devil's advocate. Happy to hear counter comments.
It's official the subsidy is on for the dieselgas conversion, the cost for a TD5 Disco one tank installation $4200 and $4900 for 2 tank installation -$2000 for the subsidy which has to be gotten back from the government.
Baz.
now thats cheap. just booked mine in today here in brisbane. the same setup in my D1 is $4000.Quote:

workmate came with me & booked his 100 series in and it can have same torpedos undeneath the floor before he has to remove any tanks or spare tyre. if he does remove these and add more tanks he's looking at easily 800km range on gas.
Does anybody have gas tanks under the floorpan of a Rangie or D1?
I don't want any tanks intruding into the cargo area.
I want more range and am not giving up til i've exhausted all ideas.
The good thing about the p38 is that when you put bigger tyres on ( as I have done) there is the original spare tyre well that can have a dohnut shaped tank put in. So you can keep your original tank for extra range. Then it will become a long range rover. he he:D

i never have much to say, but feel compelled to have a bit of a say in this thred as some of what I'm reading is out of the twilight zone
I drive a rangie with duel fuel was carbi (in the rolled rangie) new one efi flapper injection.again duel fuel (or will be when I finish fitting it)
1-I have never had any problems with my rangies out in the bush on lpg and I give my cars a hard time.
2-I have never had any lpg leakage problems even during roll overs and hiting a tree rather hard and been T-boned at 100kph
3- If you do it right there is no power loss on LPG
4- Rover heads have no problems with valve seat recession
5-Theres no differance in engine breaking
Now I have spoken to the lpg fitter the gas man and I was not impressed as I wonted to retain the long range tank and change from the large 115 liter tank to scuba tanks in the back of the efi and he would not do that the exact words where "we dont do that here" what a load of bo##acks I have not heard any good comments about this supplier.
So what Ime trying to say if you go to lpg do your home work and get a good fitter someone who knows your make of car. An example is I'd never done an EFI converstion and could find noone in Sydney who I thought knew what he was talking about, so I ended up talking to the guy in SA who even over the phone knew what I was talking about and was extremely knowledgeable. I ended up buying the LPG ECU mixer anti blow back valve and all the electrics from this guy. Haven't got a final price yet but will be under $500. Got a set of scuba tanks today $150. So as I said, do your research and pick your fitter.
