    $2000 LPG conversion subsidy - who's interested ?

I see the government today has announced a $2000 subsidy to people wanting to convert their cars to LPG.

As many of us drive the thirstiest of V8s it has to be worth consideration.

I for one, am very interested to read the fine print.

It certainly sounds like a very generous donation

I've been waiting for the press release about the tipped $1000 for new cars and $2000 for not new cars. Have you seen it or just the articles about it that say it should be happening today?

I'm putting off calling someone back about a Disco until the press release

I wonder if that $2000 can be put to having a used gas system re-fitted (as I happen to have a complete system here), so its only a labour cost...and maybe a few parts...

Can you just go and whack gas on any old or later model petrol engine??.

I"m lead to believe their can be mechanical issues down the track, if the donks not designed for gas in the beginning?

Theoretically if I put a V8 and a rangie chassis in a SIII then registered it as a modified and engineered vehicle aka (Hybrid). With new rego, then got a gas conversion. I'd get $1000 or $2000 dollars

Now what if the chassis was a new Tomcat chassis new V8 and series panels would this be classified as a new car?

There can be for issues for most older leaded engines...but as far as V8 Land Rovers go they handle it quite well with no modifications. Valve seat recession is the only real problem, and thats usually combated by running on petrol with some valve saver additive for a bit.

If it applies to diesels, then I will take it up.
