Thread: New Touring Cars series in 2024

This was tried a few decades ago however it failed as the rules were set to make the European cars competitive against those with larger engines which were then handicapped so far they were not competitive

While this would have worked for the European manufacturers and perhaps in marketing meetings in Europe where they saw the main viewing market being unfortunately the public saw through this and they stayed with the local touring car racing

Looks like this time they have taken a leaf out of the rally car rule book to make it a European centric race

Would have been better if they had looked globally and come up with something that accommodated the global market and the the way cars are changing and incorporated this into the cars that are raced. Once upon a time touring car racing was about improving the cars people drove this was a chance to do this on a global basis
