If a semi-trailer can do it, I'm sure a car and caravan will be fine. You're overthinking it.

SubscriberCan anyone give me any info on the Bells Line road. Just contemplating going from Lithgow to Singleton and wondering if a D 4 with a 20 ft van would be able to do it.
Thanks Lindsay

If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.
You will have no problems.
What I would say is to take it very very easy when you’re coming down at Kurrajong or Lithgow, it will be fairly easy to smoke your brakes with the van on.

SupporterAs others have said no problems. Very step bit for a couple of K’s at Bell Bird Hill between Kurrajong and Kurrajong Heights (with passing lane) and another steepish bit coming into Mt Tomah the rest is pretty straight forward with plenty of passing lanes these days. The temptation is to drive faster than you should. Can get pretty foggy or misty if the humidity is high. Steepish couple of k’s coming down at the Lithgow, just take it easy.

As the others have said. Steep grades and winding road at Kurrajong, Mt Tomah and Lithgow, and not many safe places to overtake or pull off the road.
But absolutely nothing to be worried about with a D4 and a 20ft van.

SubscriberWell it must be bad because last time we were there we had our falcon wagon knocked off from a train station at Penrith.

SupporterToday would not have been a good day to traverse Old Bells Line as the great western was closed by an accident and traffic diverted to Bells Line via Mt Victoria/Bell for most of the day. Traffic pretty heavy at north Richmond early afternoon.
Cheers
