Thread: Off Road Ability D2 vs P38

Sorry presume both cars are still factory standard and the D2 has CDL operational.

Disco is smaller and lighter, choice of diesel or petrol, air bag or coil suspension and I think better than the Rangie Off road. And with coils you don't have to worry about springs popping when your in the bush unlike airbags. Having owned a disco and had a relative own a P38 we both agree the rangie is very capable (even with 18 inch wheels) but just not as good as the D2

Dunno never driven either off road, the P38 is alot better than most think though. Steinzy is the man to ask he is one of the few that use their p38 for its intended purpose. Matt

P38 is pretty good in standard guise. I think it would be pretty close in the end. Does the D2 have traction control cause this helps a lot.

Everyone knows the Range Rover will eat a Disco offroad anyday.

Disco was only made to give the consumer a cheaper option if they couldn't afford a Rangie.

the P38 has traction control as well
remember the P38 was (still almost is) the flagship landrover
there is no future worth having on a disco 2 that a P38 doesn't have

hey charlie I thought you had a 38? didn't / don't you ever see the TC light come on and feel the pulse (use the pulse Luke, sorry couldn't help it)

I'm slightly biased as I own a D2 but having seen them both in action I would have to say the D2 in standard trim would be better. The only reason I say this is I think the D2 has better wheel travel.

Just my opinion.
