Sorry presume both cars are still factory standard and the D2 has CDL operational.
Just interested in knowing people's thoughts, if there is much difference in the off road ability of these two cars, I am not trying to start a fight between D2 & P38 owners.

Dunno never driven either off road, the P38 is alot better than most think though. Steinzy is the man to ask he is one of the few that use their p38 for its intended purpose. Matt

P38 is pretty good in standard guise. I think it would be pretty close in the end. Does the D2 have traction control cause this helps a lot.

Pfft! not comparable
Everyone knows the Range Rover will eat a Disco offroad anyday.
Disco was only made to give the consumer a cheaper option if they couldn't afford a Rangie.

remember the P38 was (still almost is) the flagship landrover
there is no future worth having on a disco 2 that a P38 doesn't have
Jase
when the wife updates next, I'll have a diesel P38 off-roader
hey charlie I thought you had a 38? didn't / don't you ever see the TC light come on and feel the pulse (use the pulse Luke, sorry couldn't help it)
Does the P38 have a locking centre diff?
Cheers
