    When to call time...?

It appears to be decision time. Time to move on from lost hopes and failed dreams. The past half a decade has been a bit rough, and life lost track. I realise now that it will stay off track if I cling to the past, and hold on to things I will never use, projects I will never complete. Lots of wiser heads on here than mine, so I am going to ask for thoughts.

My D2 has been a challenge, due to poor choices and incompetent workshops I will not name, along with years of being away from home. However, it is going well and is now just a couple of jobs away from registration and daily use. Yay! I really like it, and it is so much better to drive than the Ford.

The OKA is pretty good now mechanically. Cosmetically it looks a little like something out of a Mad Max dystopia, and thus needs my attention next. Luckily it’s just a box, and even I can paint that. Club plates for her.

Here’s where I need some wisdom. I have a SIII 109 single cab, std 2.25 four cylinder petrol. Has a huge LPG tank and certified conversion ( not my idea, tank is out of test ). It is complete, but needs attention to some body details. The engine is not good, as I pulled the head off to fix the gasket, but I was an alcoholic in those days so it got left, and the bores are rusty. I have many new parts that I doubt I’ll fit now. It could be brought back to life easily if there was time and a decent shed, and the $$$. I also have a Disco 1, 1994 300TDi. This was always a rough car, body wise. But it went well, was a daily for me for a while. It has some good bones, like a Suffix L R380 from Ashcrofts. 10 years old but only maybe 40,000 km on it. Maxidrive reduction gears ( 49% IIRC, but can check I guess.) and a Maxidrive rear locker. When I refit the timing belt it will run, but it really needs a new cylinder head. This was to be the basis for a ute conversion, and it would be a beauty. But, it would need to be a sort of ground up rebuild to get it to RWC standard. Or, the two could make one. 300TDi R380 LT 230 in the Series.

Thing is, I now will have to move on from this 4 bedroom house that only I live in and can’t really afford any more, so I have to sell up. I don’t like letting things go, but these two cars are a stone around my neck I guess, as I don't actually have anywhere to go, to take them.

So, do I offer them up here? As they are? I think I know the answer, but I need confirmation I guess.

Long post. Sorry. Any input welcomed.

EDIT. Penultimate para edited. Will ask the question in the appropriate section.

Firstly Tins, envision where you would like to be in, say, five years time and work out a plan to get you there. You will find that an enormous weight will magically disappear from your shoulders once you divest yourself of any unfinished or unfulfilled project that you know deep down is no longer viable. Just because it was once a good idea, doesn't mean it still is. Also, we often worry about unfinished projects as though we have an obligation to complete them. We don't. Will any of your decisions adversely affect anyone else? If not, do what is right for you.
Secondly, I may be interested in the SIII for Sunday Island. Roadworthiness is irrelevant, but a reliable SIII (I have a spare engine) would be useful.
Either post pics or send me a PM.

thanks. I know intellectually you are correct. I have certain mental health issues that have got in the way in the past. These are now being treated ( at 70! ) and so I see it more clearly.

Will do. Only pics I have now are of the car when I was driving it. It is in many pieces currently. I have to move it out and get it cleared of stuff.

BLIMEY MATEY!! I had no idea things were that Grim.

Personally, I think Diesell's offer is one you can't refuse, having just cleaned out my big shed. Already crap is building up again. Too many things have too many Memories.

    Best wishes JT.

Not unique, Des. Bad things happen. How you cope with them is what matters. I didn't. I have ADD ( no H in my life), and am apparently mildly bi-polar. Throw grief and very large quantities of alcohol into that mix and the story tells itself.

I have lived here for 25 years, 6 of them alone. I know about memories. Sorta the point of this thread really. Thought I had a new start, a potential, in Qld, but that was another fail. So, time to get on before time runs out. 540 days since I went cold turkey on the grog ( I looked it up, not counting. It doesn't mean anything to me as I never actually missed it ). It's the Qld thing that has got me thinking about all this. Can't rely on external influences, as they can be like smoke.

Got an agent coming on Monday so I best get to cleaning up.

Good luck with that I hope they ain't a Shonk.

Went for a dry run on this property recently ( 10 months ago to be exact} Gotta keep ones eye's on the ball.

Their 1% Commission is a killer & summat like 30 grand for what, a few photos & brochure etc. & I suspected they already had some one in mind so bugger all to do actually, for them.

Just because their Rule Book says they can does not mean they have to. Some hard negotiating coming up I can see.

I think I may dig a 6'hole in the garden & they can just shovel me in when the time comes.

Actually I know a bloke with a small Drain Digger.

Yep, but if I try to self market the place I might as well dig that hole here.

Oh I know. Had to sell mum's place a couple of years ago. No wonder the two principals drive a Range Rover and a Defender L663.

Doing my best. Just making the effort to ask helps.

If your post sale budget will allow a small semi rural property then keep the series and oka and offload the rest, give you something to work on and keep you busy.
