Working out Rover car - Not Land Rover Serial Number

    Hello All,

Anyone here familiar with deciphering the Rover car ID plate number to work out when a particular car was made. For example, a Rover 3 litre Mark 1A which the black and white plate on some part of the body - I only saw a photograph taken somewhere on the car that someone took a happy snap of... shows the number as 73100058a. Well, it looks like the last symbol is an 'a'. See the attached pilfered photo.

I did a quick check online and these pesky pages about how to decode Land Rover Series vehicles kept coming up. How annoying is that! Land Rovers of all things.

    Kind regards
    Lionel

G`day , using Rover sedan Mark 1A on google .

From various sites give Mark 1A as September 1961 till 1962 when the Mark 11 began production so short run .

They will also tell 20963 total units built Mark 1 and Mark 1A .

If you Google Rover P5 Mark 1 there seems a lot more to be searched .
