    Lightbulb AULRO Awards

    suggestion:
All footy clubs etc have an awards night/trophy night for their different over achievers during the year. We should have one too

I this thought had come too me when dealing with matt (ACE) over some payment for his jumpers, I had been the victim of some Internet fraud and my accounts were siezed for 3 weeks, Matt was willing to cough up for me until my funds were released again, 3000kms away doesnt know me except we have a common interest, what a guy. he also orgainesd the shirts too which Landandy and I wear on all our day's out, Stickers which sit proudly on both my vehicles and many a BBq day out for you lot over there all for nil reward, being a family man myself I know time is at a premium and ACE contributes a hell of a lot.
I feel I'm just saying what you are all thinking to be true so hows about we nominate him for AULRO member for the year and first prize or trophy if you must is one of Jase's new Intercoolers.
Now Jase if you provide me with a pm of you account details I will kick off with a $20 donation towards ACES Intercooler its $440 and with over 3000 members it shouldn't take long even with a dollar donation for the Inaugrual AULRO Member of the year. If you feel ACE deserves this Trophy then cough up, if you don't then please post and be a man about it.

If anyone strongly disagrees feel free to PMme
Oh ACE you can read this thread but don't post to it, we won't listen

watch it Rangie man there is still time for me to bid on those Axels

Mate my suggestion was based on effort and input with 3000 plus members its only 13cents each.
But each to his own and everyone is entitled to an opinion. And after all it was only a suggestion albeit well meaning, Brothers custom offroad just donated a custom bar to a french couple we don't even know, Matt has been doing heaps over the last year or so for this forum and its motley bunch of members.IMO

DirtyDawg - nominating someone for a 'Member of the Year' award is a great idea but imo there are some problems that need to be considered:

What happens if you have more than one person nominated? Member voting? Judges committee? There's administration in there which means someone has to organise and oversee it. Not a big problem but it needs to be recognised.

Then there is the question of prizes which I think is a different issue to awards. It's true there are 3400+ members but only 1000 of them are listed as active and the maximum number of members online at any time is about 60 - that means any appeal for funds for the prize would probably only be seen by around 300 members.

Other sites I have been involved with have an 'honour role' page for most valuable contributions or use a special logo for the members posts. Personally I think an engraved trophy would be a great momento and that could possibly be paid for out of funds already contributed avoiding the need for more fundraising. Any financial transactions must involve the site management - the owner, admins and moderators - imo. So we'd need to hear from them.

Btw I second your nomination for Ace to be 'member of the year'.

    Hey Mahn!

this is an interesting twist on POTM!!!

the "prize" ,, if there is one,, needs to be a bit more general,, or, like Dave said,, mentioned by logo or on a special page,,
    just my 2 cents worth,,,

    AULRO Member Of The Year

As Pedro said If someone with a V8 got the award next year what would they get? An intercooler would be usless to them.

A very good idea though I like it

Instead of giving an intercooler maybe just give a gift certificate to one of the site's sponsors? Or maybe a gift certificate that can be redeemed through any or all of the sponsors?
Also possibly an extra icon to say you have contributed to MOTY?

Great idea and yes Ace would be one of the members at the head of the list for the running for the award. I like the suggestion of the gift certificate to a 4x4 Accessory company.
The final selection could be done with a voting poll and Inc as overseer and judge.
