    How much extra

Thinking of selling our 2012 defender with 135,000 K's. The question is how do you cost extras?
ARB bull bar and 12000lb warn winch.
    127 litre long range tank.
    Duel batteries and Traxide system.
    Hard wired compressor with tank.
Codan 9323 HF and GME UHF.
Air bagman air bags in rear coils.
    Anderson plug to the rear.
    2 sets of wheels.
    Comments please.
    Regards Lindsay

I don't think there's any formula, you can't recover costs of vehicle mods; an untouched original vehicle with the same km would probably fetch more, in fact the accessories suggest that the vehicle has had off-road and outback use carrying heavy loads. I'd just choose a price that you'd be prepared to accept based mainly on condition and recent sales.

do you take your 4wd offroad?

Pod , I note your comments about the extras on the vehicle indicate offroad use to some tyre kickers.

FFS , what is the vehicle for?

I advertised a D2 with over 350k and fully set up for offroad as. most of that mileage was. I hung up on anyone that asked if it had been offroad.

Not meaning to attack you Pod. , but subject matter.

To be fair, when you have the option of buying one that has had an easy life compared to one that has had a hard life... its a fair question. When it has all of the fruit, it has probably had a hard life. The unicorn is the decked 4WD that had 1 trip to Barrington Tops.

Much like with my Disco2, its worth far more to me than anybody else.
    Cheers

both ways have their merits I guess. Personally I'd prefer to do the mods myself, but this particular car has some very good bones to build on. I would also expect that a Defender would have done Defender things. Let['s face it, an unmodded Deefer could have spent its life towing three tonnes of horsefloat.

A big driver of price for me is a well documented service history and the condition of the underlying vehicle. A vehicle that has been heavily used for off-roading tends to show it. A few sensible mods with quality kit done well ,which these appear to be, may not add much to the price but would sweeten the deal to the right buyer. Provided there hasn't been any hack-and-slash fitting the mods, they can always be reversed. I am sure a new buyer could swap an ARB bull bar for a standard bumper bar if they wanted an original look (I have one if they they are interested ).

I would never purchase a 4x4 that has any visible signs of 4x4ing, I would never buy one that has a redarc in it either, even though I heavily mod ALL of my 4x4s for the sole purpose of taking them offroad, why on earth would anyone want to buy one that could have been thrashed offroad, or towed an enormous caravan all over the country. No thanks, I'll buy one that has been treated like a baby it's whole life.

Interesting isn't it with peoples perceptions on vehicles. Actually the vehicle has only done one trip where 4wheel drive was actually necessary ( the Hay River Track). 3 other trips could have been done in a 2 wheel drive. Yes it has only done 4 trips towing a 910 Kg camper trailer and the winch has never been used to extract the vehicle.
Thanks for the replies I will probably take all the extras off and advertise it as a clean skin, with only the long range tank and the modified clutch and the Ashcroft Centre diff and adapter shaft the only modifications and sell the mods separately.
Now have a D4 and currently looking at a new D5 so will sell both.
    Lindsay.
