Tony, If some pratt does that to me I would hit them at the next speed /brake session, ram the phuker.
Last year there was a guy in a laser and myself and friend in the disco and he was driving erratically around midday so I flashed my lights at him and he gave me the finger. Silly move when you have a red light and an Irish bricklayer behind you. At the light I got out and approached his window, he wound down the window and was a guy in his 20's, he then started the verbal abuse, I was a "c" , what am I gonna do about it I was a "Fwit",I gave him a right hook to the mouth, took his keys from the ignition and walked back to my vehicle got in drove around him on green, 100m across the bridge at Fremantle harbour the keys were tossed into the channel enroute home. this insured no more idiot driving on the way home and a lesson in manners. True story as my mate nearly died laughing on the way home.
Many of you will find this extreme, blah ,blah, blah. You are what you are and I don't take kindly to idiots. The world is becoming a nasty disrespectful place and because no one stands upto it is why it is getting worse. IMO

I'd say goon on ya DirtyDawg!
The roads are not a playground and idiots and pathetic disrespectful people should go home..... I was used to traffic and attitudes in Africa, but sometimes i wonder if this is any better? Especially considering that Australia is supposed to be a "first-world" country? They sure don't drive like it. Traffic here on the Gold Coast amuses me, what are they going to do when they get there first, half a minute ahead of me???

It wrong, it's illegal and it's shocking, but I would have paid money to see it.

    Oh Dear Dawg,
LOL. I still have not stopped laughing.
There are way too many aggresive, idiots on our roads. I had one in a new 7 series Beemer when I was trying to get my daughter to the airport to fly to Adelaide after they closed the Kwinnana Freeway to do an overpass and we were parked on the freeway in gridlock for an hour and a half. This idiot cut me off and then slowed in front of the Fender. Not a bright idea as by this stage I had had it with spastic Perth drivers, daughter was in tears as it looked like we would miss the plane (only 10 and her first solo trip to see the grandparents). So I gave him a mouthfull and then gave the Fender a bootfull and sat on his tail about 2" away form his bumper and forced him to sit on the speed limit instead of 20kph under it. After a bit he realised I had no intention of stopping for him or caring if I creased his flash new BMW. For a while he then got a bit worried as he was stuck in the same lane as me (right hand). When he did manage to pull in to a turning lane I did try to take a mirror off on the way past. Call me nasty but this sort of crap annoys me. If you dont want to sit on the speed limit do not drive in the right lane and do not come past my Fender at twice the speed limit pull in front and then slow right down. Obviously one of the anti 4wd morons. I think it disturbed him how well the Fender went in traffic.
We all get a bit of rage at times when people do the wrong thing, but most of us give a toot, maybe voice our opinions in our car and move on. This then going on and creating a driving hazard does deserve a thumping though and if I had had time this BMW driver would have got what for.

Here's a trick that is the opposite of road rage but has a very amusing effect:

If someone's being a ***** on the motorway, try to position yourself in front of them at a toll plaza - then pay THEIR toll as well as yours and watch the fun in your rearview mirror. We used to do this regularly on Brisbane's Gateway Bridge (back when tolls were only $1.80 and no e-tag). The car behind was usually still at the booth trying to work out what was happening and we were over the hump. Most people just don't believe that someone would do such a thing and end up arguing with the guy at the toll plaza. Good value entertainment for $1.80 I thought.

would'nt giving her the finger be road rage in itself??

If she's being an idiot, get out of her way and let her be an idiot somewhere else...it's no skin off your nose..she's the one with bigger problems to deal with, same thing happened to me going out west of Sydney last weekend, woman driver, smoking , talking on a cellphone, overtaking on single lanes, just let her go, she'll be wrapped around a tree one day wondering " why me??"

plus we've all done it ourselelves, so can't judge to harshly.

Interestingly, we have views from both sides in this thread.

Tailgaters and tailgatees ( are they real words Ron ???) and everyone thinks their actions are justified.

I too have been on both sides ...........

    As I stated earlier
let them pass, I say .
(They might be in a hurry to get to the airport or elsewhere)
What gives you the right to delay them or worse - all other road users in the case of an "accident"?

NO WONDER the anti 4wd lobby is so strong............IMHO (edit for YABBIE)..... think of your actions when you're sitting in your LR, are you a good rep. for the rest of us???

My diesel disco doesn't have the pick-up of most of the rest of the cars on the road, many of us don't have the handling of a sports car in the bends etc. GET OUT OF THEIR WAY.... YOU have NO RIGHT. You might even get a "toot" of thanks and a smile.

Have a look here for some ideas:

    Road rage.

I just let them pass whenever possible. I couldn't care less what they do, if they drive too close I slow down gradually and there comes a time when it's obvious to most of the idiots they can go past which they usually do with a bit of finger waving and I give them a cheery wave back.
If they go past then slow down to less than the limit that upsets me but I try very hard too ignore it and hope they'll get fed up and go faster.
I was abused years ago at a junction with a truck on my right hand side making it impossible to see in that direction, the bloke behind kept yelling at me and blowing his horn.
When the truck went, I went, turned left and the peanut swerved around me and then cut me up and banged on his brakes. I signalled him to pull over which he did and then jumped out of his vehicle. I got out and he shouted he was telling me it was clear to go so I politely told him I would make any decisions on the road not the bloke behind me.
As soon as he heard my accent he went ballistic, "You Pommy bastards do as you're told out here" he shouted and poked me in the chest! Hard.
I couldn't care less about the abuse but no one pokes me like that so I poked him with a beaut right hander.
I hit him so hard in the gob he literally flew backwards, hit the boot of his car and gently slid over it and bang on to the ground.
I then walked past him to pick up my watch which had flown off my wrist, looked up and at the shopping centre on the otherside of the road there was a group of people watching.

He was flat out with split lips and bleeding nose so I casually (I was feeling anything but) got in the car and drove up the pub for a few to calm myself down.
Very rarely do I get that upset and I'm now past the thumping age so I settle for ignoring them and giving a wave, hopefully that'll p*ss them off without anyone getting violent.
    Alan H.
