    DiscoII Radiator Change

Well, changed the Radiator in the Disco today.

    That was an interesting experience

I am very grateful I had some experienced assistance there to help....

What ever happened to 2 hoses and 4 bolts holding a radiator in?

    I just have to know...

What were the Land Rover engineers smoking when they decided the first step to changing the radiatior should be "take out the headlights"

Anyway.. all sorted - the cooling system is now fit to play in the sand at Fraser Island..

Airbags tomorrow... and we are just about all sorted...

I did all of this on the side of the road. I'll I can say, is that the Solihull designers and engineers are all a bunch of stoners.

I couldn't believe it when I was pulling the blinkers out to get the headlight trim off to pull the grill out to get the horns out to undo the radiator mounts. Then the fan was meant to come out, like I had a special fan tool...not. So the raditor now comes loose and has to have the intercooler released and removed and then the ATF cooler removed also before the radiator would come out - but only just through the gap left. Then you need the hands of a 5 year old to do the lower hose clamps up, weird angle tools and zip ties to keep the hose clamps open while you slide them around. Not to mention having to drill holes in the new radiator so the coolant would flow through the blocked off lower passages.

I need a beer just thinking about
    Cheers

I crashed into mine with an engine. Unfortunately it was my engine. Too much water, too much speed.

Was leaking between the core and the plasic side tank... had been repaired by the previous owner - and my trusted mechanic suggested that while I could get it repaired... I was probably better to replace it as most that he has seen repaired failed again fairly quickly

On well......once again my trusty Landy saves me the worry of deciding how to spend my pay...
