Got an email a short while ago from my brother in Houston - he went to the bank to get some cash - only one ATM working, tellers could not work due to no IT, and the queue to the one working ATM was out the door.
Hope he was not stuck up in the air "Planes operated by several US airlines are being ordered to stay in the air due to major worldwide IT outages. The American air regulator said American Airlines, Delta Airlines and United Airlines requested a ‘global ground stop’ in the early hours on Friday.
This means pilots in the air will be told not to land, while planes on runways cannot take off."

It was only for a while of course

Really funny as imagine the look on a pilot's face as he/she said get sodded IF his/her jet was low on fuel

Yup, it was one of those days again. I guess CrowdStrike will soon be strikken from the registers because this is bankruptcy type of ef-ups.

I couldn't get popcorn because the registers, checkouts and EFTPOS at my local Woolies were all down. I have however found the whole thing rather amusing.

It's not over - a lot of the banks will need to fix their branch computers on Monday, since it hit so late on Friday afternoon. Apparently there's a blue-screen loop that's causing problems for some people.

Seems CrowdStrike has had a busy 2024...

This is their 3rd crash causing event. The other 2 (April and May) were Linux issues again caused by updates

If Ernst Stavro predicted it then perhaps he would make sure it came true.

    Today I drove to Yass.

You know the large illuminated signs about 2-3m square used for road closures etc? All the ones that have been there for ages were blank except for blinking spots in the top left and bottom right corners. I wonder if they are internet connected and use a Windows processor 'protected' by Crowdstrike?
